Nicely made collectable album
I am enjoying these records of Sun recording artists, this is my second out of the set and I intend to collect all five. The quality is very good, so far the records are flat and properly centered (no "wow" caused by an off-center pressing). And the audio is decent too which isn't always the case with remastered albums. It has the Sun sound that I remember from listening to my early Johnny Cash recordings. Best of all I'm learning about and enjoying some authentic rock-a-billy by artists that I was not familiar with in a format that is fun to use and collect.

Rockabilly at its best. In the same leauge as early Elvis(Sun and Rca recordings) Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Gene Vincen
First heard of Billy when UKs Shakin Stevens covered Flying Saucers Rock & Roll. Should have been a major star. In the same league as Early Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Gene Vincent. Rockabilly at its best. Also get the Mojo albums + Billy does it all Rockabilly, R&B, a great cover of Johnny River's Poor Side of town that is note for note as excellent andsoulful as Johnny's recording and its a live performance. Billy never got the stardom that he deserved but he is a star in his fans eyes. Try to keep your feet from not tapping, impossiable.

High Energy late 50's rockabilly
I'm a musician learning to play high energy rockabilly and Billy Lee certainly has something in his music that makes you wanna move. He has a great voice and the recordings are done well. His best song is "Got your Water boilin' baby", give it a listen!

BILLY LEE RILEY-RED HOT: Unbridled rockabilly wildcat BILLY LEE RILEY may not garner the immediate recognition of fellow SUN label mates JERRY LEE LEWIS, JOHNNY CASH or ELVIS, but his best stuff was up there on the same astral plane. A gravelly caterwauler and multi-instrumentalist who backed many SUN stars with his crackerjack band THE LITTLE GREEN MEN, roots purists relish his brashly rendered cult classics RED HOT and FLYING SAUCERS ROCK & ROLL (both were covered note for note by revivalist belter ROBERT GORDON and guitar ace LINK WRAY). This generous 26 track compilation also dishes out the honky tonkin' and RNB aspects of BILLY LEE's repertoire, from a hoppin' boppin' DOWN BY THE RIVERSIDE to a subdued (dare a say "mellow"?) version of LOUIS JORDAN's jump swing call to arms SATURDAY NIGHT FISH FRY. THE CLOVERS chestnut YOUR CASH AIN'T NOTHIN' BUT TRASH never sounded better than in RILEY's mitts and he administers a deep baritone groove to the bloozey DARK MUDDY BOTTOM. If you like your rock & roll raw, righteous, and real, RED HOT is one sizzlin' platter to tear up your sacroiliac to.RATING: FOUR HEP CATS

My gal is red hot, ...
One of the wildest rockabilly performers! He started at Sun and contributed as a sideman to many a classic Sun session. He played harmonica, guitar, bass and drums. His band the Little Green Men (Roland Janes and James Van Eaton) became Sun house band. "Red Hot", "Flyin' Saucers Rock & Roll" are outstanding rockabilly numbers and other songs are outstanding too.
