5 Stars - Works Everytime & Trims Perfectly!
This 24-inch Hedgehog was a replacement for my old HH2450 model, which lasted about 6 years of Moderate heavy-duty use, every 2 to 3 weeks. The 2450 (Silver/orange/black) body performed outstandingly, until it just finally stopped like an old tired, worn-out horse! Of course, I take care of all of my equipment and conduct some Pre & Post-maintenance, ie, like Pre/Post Lubrication, adjusting & cleaning blades, so to prevent any Debris or Rust buildup, since we live close to the ocean, where rust is viral. 2 days ago I put this new one, the 2455 through the paces for 5 ours straight, by trimming a very large (6-foot wide by almost 6-foot tall), overgrown, long (50-foot) hedge row + an over-grown, open lot, right next door, with a population of small tree saplings, from 1/4 to 3/4-inch in diameter, although I did notice that you have to let the blades cut on their own when using on 3/4-inch saplings. Motor: 3.3 Amp. Pro's - It's A No Brainer! For Moderate to Light-Heavy use x 1 to 5 hours continuously; this trimmer is Perfect. Otherwise, your arms may start rebelling beyond that, but that also depends on the cutter's conditioning, endurance, and weather conditions, FYI. 1. Excellent Trimmer like the old 2450. Slices and dices like butter! Warning - it works so well that during my ground sweeps, I accidentally cut through the electric cord, without noticing until it suddenly just stopped. I thought that the electric cord had dis-engaged, or that I threw a breaker. Nope! It was the cord, which is exactly what happened the first time I used the old 2450 for the first time too! 2. Longer reach + adjustable handle positions. 3. Electric power and Light-weight. 4. If well-maintained, can last more than 5 working years. 5. Two-year B&D warranty 5. Good price! Con’s - Minor 1. No blade removal wrench included for either the Trimmer, and/or, was ever included with the 2450 Replacement blades. 2. The built-in Cord Retention system built into the back of the handle to avoid accidental unplugging is not as good as the one on the HT22 or my old HH 2450; as my electric cord fell out a few times during my use. Comment - A 4 AMP Motor would definitely be a perfect match-up for this trimmer, and make it a bit more useful when cutting 3/4 + saplings. Perhaps B&D could release an XL Version and called it the 250-x - XL. Before you do B&D, send me one for Beta-testing ( ; Cheers!

Great trimmer at a great price
I wanted to get something light so both I and my wife would use it. So, we settled on the electric trimmer rather than a gasoline-powered one. It arrived on time as we have come to expect with Amazon Prime. We bought an electric cord at the same time...16-gage 100 ft cord and a plastic wind-up reel. With only 3 or 4 amps needed to run this puppy this cord was fine. I tied the center of the cord to the reel and wound both halves at once...super suggestion from another reviewer but caution...if you run something up near the limit of 16 amps, you need to totally unwind the cord so it doesn't overhead where it is wound and therefore uncooled. Trimmer works great. it's light and easy to maneuver. The blades turn from horizontal to 45 degrees to vertical relative to the handle for ease of use and it is a snap to use on our bushes new growth.

Powerful Unit
This is a replacement unit for a B & D of the same size which I used for over 10 years. this model is more powerful and able to cut and trim much faster. It makes light work of giving my hedges (Rose of Sharon, privet hedge, barberry hedge, azaleas, etc.) a haircut. This unit is a bit heavier than my previous one making it a little harder to lift for high hedges but it has a rotating handle which eases transitioning from the top to the sides. The only other disadvantage is the unit is substantially noisier! I suggest wearing ear coverings.

Black & Decker Hedge Trimmer - Twist & Shout
I have 3 large shrubs, plus a hedge. We get a lot of rain up here, which makes them all grow faster then normal. I have actually owned a Black & Decker trimmer before, the HTO18 to be exact. It was a really great trimmer, until I damaged it by getting a piece of 1/8" diameter bar stuck in the blades. MOTOR: This electric hedge trimmer uses a 3.3-AMP motor. Even though this is a larger motor then the HTO18, I feel that it is a bit underpowered for its 24" blade. You have to let the machine do the work, do not try to force this hedge trimmer! BLADE: I am overall happy with the quality of the blade, but it is far from being a commercial blade. As mentioned, it is 24" long, I find this to be plenty long for all jobs. However, If trying to cut larger branches then 3/4", please use a pair of loppers. With the HTO18, I was always having to over-reach, when trimming large shrubs due to the 18" size. One of the many things I like about the HH2455 is, that I no longer have to over-reach anymore. This allows me to work more productively, and reduces stress on my back. HANDLE: I really like the handle design on this trimmer over the older HTO18 style. For one thing, the HH2455 has a more comfortable rubber grip. This new model also boasts a very cool new feature, never seen in hedge trimmers before. Using buttons on either side, you can rotate the handle to your desired position. I really like this, as it allows me to operate the trimmer in different positions, without developing carpal tunnel! SHRUBS: When hedge trimming, what you want to do, is keep a good fluid, and even motion. For example, while cutting my shrubs, I like them to be round shaped. So, I like to go slowly, and let the trimmer do the work. I find that it cuts really well, and leaves a very clean and even cut. I was pretty happy with how my shrubs turned out, and never needed more power for the job at hand. HEDGE: Hedges are the reason why hedge trimmers were made. Hedges are usually long, and require a lot of trimming to get them to look nice. I am sure you have passed by a business and said to yourself, "Oh, I wish my hedges looked that nice." The truth is, they can be, if you use a hedge trimmer. Never expect them to look nice, when cut with a hedge shear. I like to trim my hedges in the standard square shape, and I like them to be even. Just like with the shrubs, I like to go nice and slow, to let the machine do the work. With hedges, I like to use a vertical sweeping motion, upwards and downwards. I find that this trimmer, cuts fine and even, just like with the shrubs. Though I don't need to, you can use pieces of string, to create a straight line to trim along. On the top of my hedge, I use a horizontal sweeping motion, moving slowly just like before. And just like before, it cuts finely and evenly, as long as I maintain my fluid motion. CONCLUSION: I felt that this electric hedge trimmer by Black & Decker was quite good. However, I am concerned that the motor is a bit underpowered for its blade size, perhaps a 4-AMP would be better? The trimmer feels good in my hand and the weight is balanced well. The rotating handle was an excellent new addition to the trimmer, and hope that all future models have this! Just remember, its for home use only, not to landscape somebody's 4 foot wide by 200 foot long hedge. UPDATE! NOV 22 2018 I wanted to give people an update on this trimmer since it is now dead. I got 7-years of life out of this tool, before the trimmer was no longer able to make the blades move, and the motor burned up. Since B&D is a home owner's occasional use tool, I am really not surprised. I am however surprised that my older B&D HTO18 trimmer is still functional, and it also had a stronger motor since day 1! Its too small for doing large shrubs though, so thats why I rarely used it. I am honestly surprised that B&D is still selling this model after 7-years. I guess the company is no longer producing newer and better models, sad, because the HH2455 requires improvement. So many of times I was milking the trimmer by using lots of lubricant, trying to keep the blades going for as long as I could. The motor was always weaker then the smaller HTO18 model, but it just couldn't handle the stress. I was looking at gas hedge trimmers as a replacement at first, knowing I would never use a corded electric model again. But the only good gas hedge trimmers that I could find with solid 5-STAR ratings across the board, were made by Stihl. All of their trimmers cost 500 dollars or more, and what you get is bad fumes, emissions, carburetors to fail and have to service, along all the other typical maintenance routines you have to do with a gas engine. So after lots of research, I decided to go with the Milwaukee M18 Brushless Fuel 24" Hedge Trimmer. Its cordless, and runs off of 9.0 lithium batteries. The weight of the trimmer is the same as a gas model, but has none of the gas engine drawbacks. Clean power, clean emissions, clean everything, and the quality of a commercial gas unit. Everything is going battery operated these days, because the new battery systems are far superior. If your looking at this B&D trimmer in 2019, do yourself a favor, buy a Milwaukee instead.

Good hedge trimmer
I have bought cheaper hedge trimmer that just die after a few uses. This B+D rotating trimmer has at least lasted a lot longer than my previous ones. I don't find the rotating handle to be particularly useful, but it does not cause any problems either. I find the safety dead-man switch to be a lot more convenient than any that I have used before. It seems to have plenty of power.

This trimmer is excellent, especially for the price. Long blade for even cuts and strong motor so it doesn't take 10 passes to cut 1 bush. Highly recommended. Two summers and still going strong.

Works great and is as described, but if I was to do it again I would go for the next bigger one because some of my bushes have branches a little bigger then 3/4". It will take them out eventually but need to work at it. Otherwise a good machine.

I found the extra length extremely valuable for trimming my hedges that are very wide and appear to never end. It's light weight, balanced, and versatile with the rotating handle. Regular cleaning and lubrication of the blades makes trimming less tiring and more precise. I recommend this model without hesitation.
