Whiteside 9810 Brass Set Up Gauges, 5 Piece Set

I had no idea just how much I needed these till I bought this set. I find myself using them often in my woodworking. They not only speed and greatly simplify set up work but the accuracy is certain. Much easier than trying to read calipers with my old eyes. Setting up my dovetail jig became quick and easy, a chore I use to hate. I keep finding more and more uses for them. I wish I'd bought these decades ago. I love them. Simple. Quick. Accurate. Indispensable now in my workshop.

I wish I had purchased these gauges long before. Especially useful in setting up a table router depth of cut from edge and to confirm the router cut. Gauges are accurate.

These bars are extremely accurate. The sizes make it easy to use the 1/2-1/2-1/2 method to set up a table saw to make drawer boxes without changing the set up for the front, sides and backs of the boxes using different thicknesses of material. My only improvement would be if they came in a box or foam to keep them from banging into each other in the plastic bag they come in. I'll probably end up making one from scrap pieces of hardwood. Other than that these are great.

Bought these to make set up of table saw, router and band saw accurate for measurements under an inch. These gauges are good quality MADE IN THE USA and help easily set cut from 1/8" and up by combining the different sizes. I saw them being used on a Youtube video and thought they would be useful in my woodworking shop. Great for setting blade on a saw or bit height on a router. Only issue is one of the bars has the size printed upside down from the other. All are marked with a laser engraving.

I just started using the set-up gauges - what a great tool - they save set up times and the need for multiple test cuts. So far, I used these gauges for table saw heights and cut widths. But they will also work on the router table. The price is reasonable and the gauges were received before I expected them. Very valuable tool. One of the reviewers said the brass gauges were not marked with the sizes. That is correct but I believe most woodworkers would not have issues as the sizes are obvious by sight. Put a marking on a 1/8 inch bar would be silly - who could read it? Correction - After using the smaller gauges, I found that some are marked. Just wish I had ordered these bars years ago.

These bars are the perfect addition to the home router setup. The sizes permit a consistent accuracy in depth and width cuts. Only criticism is that I wish the size numbers were engraved on the bars.

These are such a small item yet in the month or so that I've had them I really enjoy them. I do hobby level woodworking and use them for setting the depth of cut on my router and table saw when cutting one of the sizes I have a set-up block for. In fact, I try to always cut to one of the sizes so that I can use the set up blocks. If I had my way, the only thing I'd change is that they were all the same width so they'd stack easier, but then have the indicated thickness. The way I use them is to lay the thickness I want next to the bit or blade, lay another block on top of that one so that it extends over the bit or blade, and then raise the bit or blade until it just kisses the block on top. The cuts are accurate and repeatable. I am considering picking up a second set so that I have more combinations and/or can have a set by my different tools.

I have had this set for 3 yeas now, the set I received was/ is, within .002 of square, and had the actual size marked on the side (acid etched) , the ends are chamfered 1/16" on the 4 corners, I use this set for setup and checking wile milling a lot of parts (to insure that my router bit has not moved) FYI- I have been producing "Heirloom Quality" Custom Woodwork for 35+ years, not bragging just to let all who are interested in my background "who is this fellow, what makes him qualified to give a detailed review" are some of the questions that I ask myself when reading a review. I have found these set-up blocks to be "Top Quality" when I'm working on a project that has $40 a Bf. species, I can not afford any screw up's I highly recommend this set (Kreg makes a different style of depth, width and sizing set, not as variable uses) If you are as "Over the top quality minded" as I am (.010 is a bit large of oversize for my outgoing work, i.e.- box joints, mortise & tenon fit, rabbeted & dadoed, to list a few)- I hope this review helps anyone to make a decision for your woodworking needs- Thanks Amazon for allowing us to pass on our experience
