Great Resource
This is an excellent book for any Penguins fans to have and read, or even just hockey and sports fans. It's a great resource. The author did some diligent work in gathering his information together here and it shows. Not only is there great info on today's stars like Sidney Crosby and yesterday's stars like Mario Lemieux, but also on the original players and coaches and Pittsburgh's first "enforcers" like Bob "Battleship" Kelly, imported to fight the Blues and Flyers. I thought I knew a lot about the Penguins, but this book takes us back to Pittsburgh's first ice hockey rink in 1895 and proceeds onwards to the formation of the Penguins in 1967 and on to today. It helped me relive some of the wonderful moments of our three Stanley Cups and helped me remember some of the great players not named Crosby or Lemieux, like Coffey, Murphy, Stevens, Barrasso, Trottier, Tocchet and many, many others. Whether you're a die hard fan or just a casual viewer of a few games, you're sure to read some things that will catch your eye and make you appreciate this team ... all the more. Definitely recommended.

Fantastic book for Penguins fans new and old.
I must first let it be known that I would never sit down and read a 300 page book about sports cover to cover let alone any other book, and I didn't do that with this one. I just don't consider myself a "reader" unless you count the sports page. I own a copy of Buker's first book "Total Penguins" which is more like an encyclopedia or reference manual about the Penguins than anything else so I thought I would try this book being that I consider myself a big Pittsburgh Penguins fan.It is fantastic. The book covers everything from the beginning to Crosby's latest exploits. It has small 2-3 page crazy, weird stories and other stuff about the Penguins. Some of the stuff I have heard rumors of like the Stanley Cup at the bottom of Mario Lemieux's swimming pool and about the only player other than Mario to have his number retired by the Penguins. It's nice to know what really happened.I find myself saying "wow, I didn't know that" just about every time I pick it up and have also found myself telling Penguin fan friends stories that I have read in it. I would recommend this and have recommended it to all my friends who love Pittsburgh hockey. The book is easy to pick up, get satisfaction from reading a great short story then put down again. Over and over.

Perfect for the Pittsburgh Penguin Fan in Your Life
This book is great! It's got decent content, but isn't a huge read. Perfect for the bathroom, study, or coffee table. Contains lots of interesting facts and historical anecdotes. Can't wait to give it to my Dad, who is a life-long Pens fan!

True Penguin Fans' Must Read
As a lifetime Pens fan and having been there since the early 70's, it was a very enjoyable read! It brought back memories, reminded me of those forgotten and introduced me to those juicy tidbits that I was unaware of in Pittsburgh Penguin folklore. Absolutely enjoyed this book!

Interesting but repetitive
I found some of the information pretty interesting but if you are any kind of hockey fan (Pens or other) you should already know most of the more current "facts". However, the author seems to be quite repetitive with the information. Maybe just to fill up pages? Kinda like something we did in school when you had to have the 500 word essay that you only had 485 words for. I have not actually finished the book yet. Needed a break from it. Will pick through the rest of it at some point. I'm sure before I die.

not just #66 and #87
I'm pretty leery of these sports list books but needed to top up an order to get free shipping so dumped this into my cart. Mindblowingly great! This has so much great detailed and fun stuff on the Pens and not just the post-Mario and Jagr through Crosby and Malkin era. To read about Les (not more!) Binkley, Andy Bathgate, Dave Burrows, Ron Stackhouse, the Century Line and even the heroics of Michel Dion vs. the Isles was a great trip to a nostalgic time I had no idea on the details of.It's truly a well put together history of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Certainly this first foray into this series has me interested to check out some other teams' 100 Things.

Great gift idea!
A great book for a sports fan who isn't an avid reader. My husband loved the short, interesting snippets found within this book. It was a great addition to his Christmas gift last year!
