Amazing stuff that works as advertised!
I used this to clean serious built up carbon off of my 10yr old copper clad pots and pans. The product worked wonderfully but I did have to apply it multiple times to get through the build up. My pots and pans were so bad that I could not even get it off with a nylon drill attachment! The product is just like a paint stripper but meant for breaking down carbon. I used a natural paint brush to apply it. Let it sit for a few hours then washed it off in the utility sink. WEAR HEAVY DUTY DISHWASHING GLOVES TO PROTECT YOUR HANDS! This will burn skin. I also used it on a griddle that was about 20yrs old and that came out great as well. I followed up washing the copper with bar keepers friend soft scrub. Shiny and just like new. Not a quick process but the CarbonOff is really the only way to get serious gunk off pans. I had tried it all.

It works as advertised
This stuff is super-powerful and smelly - but it works. Cleans our pans and our stovetop - with the kitchen exhaust fan running. Started off years ago using the spray cans - but they have problems with clogging after initial use. Now use this liquid tin & dedicate a cheap bristle brush to applying it. I used this to restore a Wagner cast-iron fry pan inherited from my grandmother purchased in the 1930's that was so crusted with carbon you could not read the info on the bottom. After two rounds the pan was perfectly clean. Re-seasoned it & have been using it for 8 years now.

This seems to work
This stuff took off the cooked on muck that barkeeps helper couldn't really handle. Pictures are two objects: One is a burner head i should have taken a before pic of, first. An assigned aide to mom was frying. Oil overflowed. (Could have burned my house down.) The burner head was coated and cooked on. First is the OTHER burner. Second is after two apps, one a few hours, the second about 15-20 minutes. You can see some residual carbon in this hard-to-reach corner. The third is the same piece, after simply sticking a soft cotton swab in that corner, to wipe it. Overall, not as clean as the non abused head. But still 95 or more percent better. A total immersion and a light wire brush, and it would be carbonless. Probably not going to bother. The second are two burners. One showing cooked on food around it. Barkeeps helper will take this off at maybe 15 minutes of scrubbing per half inch or inch. This took the whole ring off in 15 minutes of waiting. The second burner is after. Was one tiny spot left where it was thicker, if I were being picky, which another spot application took care of. I could have just waited another few minutes, probably. So yeah... it works. Turn on the stove vent to take out odor. Or open a window,, to be safe. Oder was not bad, but certainly worse when it made contact with water. I applied it with an old tooth brush. Wiped stove with towels. Should use your heavy kitchen gloves with this.

Excellent Product
I bought this product a few months ago, but just haven't had the time to use it. Today I brought it up from the basement and took out my copper pans to get to work. As someone else mentioned, the inner lid is EXTREMELY difficult to remove! It says on the top, "Cut out lid". It is NOT foil and I could not remove it with a knife, so I opted for a wood chisel with a thin edge. I held it away from my face and gently pried up on the edge....it exploded! A fine spray shot out and landed on my bare arms and a small amount on my face! Luckily, I was wearing glasses so none got into my eyes. BURNS LIKE CAUSTIC SODA!!!! I washed off the acid from my skin with cold water and no further treatment was needed, but I cannot express enough: KEEP OUT OF REACH OF PETS AND CHILDREN! I have worked with caustic chemicals for more than 40 years...everything from caustic soda, paint removers, muriatic acid, oxalic acid, etc...never had any of these explode when opened. Yes, it works GREAT. Highly recommend using it outdoors.

Expected Better Performance
Description and images suggest that built up carbon effortlessly disappears from cooking pots and pans. The product is applied and used similar to paint stripper: paint it on, let sit overnight, then scrape away. Don’t scrub. Previously, I had used oven cleaner and a variety of scouring powders (Ajax, Comet, Bar Keeper’s Friend, etc.), along with scrubbing pads. I still had to use these after using CarbonOff to get the pans I tried completely clean. Does it work better in certain situations? I will try it some more. But it is pricey, and requires a lot of caution in handling and use, for something that may only work as well as more common, and less expensive products.

Didn't work
Hi, I'm sorry but I followed the instructions exactly and used on my SS bbq grates. I put in a large tin tray and lathered the product on with a paint brush. I used the entire can of product on 3 grates and let it sit and soak for 5 hours. afterwards I not only tried scrubbing the grates I also used a 3500psi powerwasher to see if that would help get the black staining off my grates. There is no "build-up" of food pieces on the grates, however they are still black in the central area where we use the grill most often. The advertising picture that shows the cooking pan going from black back to shiny steel is misleading unfortunately.

Careful with this, it has its uses but is not game changing.
I use this on the time and sides on my popcorn kettle. It works well but it needs a good amount of time to be effective for thicker carbon build up. The only thing I don't like about using this is the smell and its ability to cause chemical burns. Follow the instructions. Do not use nitrile gloves as it will make them come apart in seconds (I know this from trying since I didn't have any rubber gloves). This will not clean everything off. It a great aide, but muscle and elbow grease is always to top way to clean buildup. I recommend a wire brush for hard to reach spots. For the rest of the popcorn machine I use Nu-View concession cleaner.
