Experience the wild life of Mick Dodge, a quirky character whose unique brand of Zen comes from living by his own code โ off the land and off the grid.

Over embellished
So they want you to believe that Mick is a wild man living off the land. BS. If you watch closely, you see things that don't add up. First clue I had was when he pulled a shirt out of an old stump, used as a stash. Having been raised in western wa, I know that any cloth left for a few days in that stump would come out wet, matted and musty. Not fresh and fluffy after years of supposedly being stashed. Still entertaining though, fantastic scenery and Mick is such an entertaining personality. But way over priced. National geographic used to be regarded for accurate portrayals. Lately, this show and others produced by NG are too much like reality TV rather than the documentaries NG used to be known for. Extremely disappointing. NG has permanently damaged their intercity in my mind. I won't be buying any more of their shows.

A must see!
Just really enjoy this series. Itโs earthy, entertaining and authentic as a reality show can be. Even though there is a TV crew, itโs only two guys who interact at times with Mick... they learn as much as the viewer. Refreshing to acknowledge the camera crew, we all know they are there. Mick is eccentric and has more common sense then half of society. Maybe heโs got it right?? A must watch if you enjoy reality shows with grit.

seems scripted, like he is trying to hard to be weird
seems scripted, like he is trying to hard to be weird. I am a fan of show's like "live free or die" and even show's like "dude, you're screwed!" but this show is just not authentic. He is always clean, as in to clean for "living out in the wild", just look at Colbert from live free or die. He goes on a hunt for some lost treasures left by his grandpa and when he finds them, they are in a pristine new leather bag that has not aged, and even finds a knife that has the amount of rust equal to being in that location for about a day. The map he uses, that's supposed to be his gpa's, looks like it was tried to made to look older, but they failed, as the pencil marks were not even smudged and the creases were not worn in. If you want to watch it for pure entertainment value go ahead, but there is no truth in it what so ever. The closest you will get to reality is when the camera guy falls and sprains his knee, in which they did not exactly handle in the best way, but they did handle successfully.
