Cursed [DVD]

Bought on inpulse - Wes Craven, Christina Ricci? Worth a go....Glad I did as I found it to be a rip roaring hooror/werewolf movie, with a good plot (of course just a bit cliched, but it is almost impossible to avoid some cliche, and if well done...?). Rick Baker's werewolf is very scary and Craven sensibly doesn't go full on til near the end. There is a mystery element as to "WHO" is the wolf. Ricci is excellent and the rest of the cast (Scott baio in particular as himself) are very good. The climax is a bit too long but exciting. If you want a fast moving unpretensious horror, well acted and directed - give this a go. No classic but fun. Good quality pic and sound and subtitles.

I purchased this on prime, it was on offer and I wish I hadn't. It's terrible and not a good storyline, either.It wasn't frightening at all. It was funny, however.But it is my fault for buying it. But it is funny I suppose

I like supernatural films so it would usually be enjoyable but this was just okay, not a film you'd watch over and over but it was cheap.

This is a fantastic film for any Wes Craven fans out there or just horror fans. This version has everything in it. You get to see all the scenes that were cut in the British version which does make the film much better in my opinion. If you love a good werewolf movie then this is for you. You've got gore, comedy and lots of suspence. If you've only seen the British version and don't mind a bit of gore then I recommend this version. You'll love it. Remember beware of the moon.

Can't believe I have never seen this one, I won't say it is exactly re-writing the genre but as an homage it really works. Jesse Eisenberg is fantastic in an early role and lifts the film from a four to five star. Its a fun film so don't go in expecting to be scared, but you won't regret losing the 2 hours.

I have loved the movie Cursed since it came out. It was a movie I used to watch at my best friend house during our "girls' night" while eating ben and jerry's half-baked ice cream. I grew up watching Christina Ricci and Joshua Jackson movies and I remember being so excited to watch them together in this movie when it first came out. One of my favorite bands Bowling for Soup also make a camo in Cursed which always makes me giggle every time I see them in it because I know how fun they are to watch live. For years I looked for this movie on blu ray because I needed it for my horror movie collection and could never find it. I settled for watching it on tv when it occasionally aired over the years for Halloween. Needless to say, I was excited when I was alerted to the preorder for this and quickly bought it. It's just as fun as I remember it being.

Lo más interesante, es todo lo sucedido detrás de esta película; en el 2021, Patrick Lussier habló sobre la problemática producción de Cursed:Originalmente, Wes planeaba hacer el remake de una película Japonesa del 2001 llamada Pulse, ya había escrito el guion, tenia a su equipo listo y estaban a ocho semanas de ponerse a trabajar cuando Bob Weinstein retira de la agenda el proyecto y convence a Craven de hacer primero Cursed.El guion de Craven para Pulse fue re escrito completamente por otro escritor Ray Wright, y el remake fue dirigido al final por Jim Sonzero en 2005. Cuando Lussier fue traído a bordo de Cursed, supuestamente trabajaría por solo seis semanas, pero terminó trabajando por 19 meses.Para cuando Lussier fue contratado, Cursed estaba finalizando los 2 largos meses de filmación con solo 6 días para grabar el final que consistía en una batalla entre Joanie y Scott Baio, lo cual nunca ocurrió después de que los Weinstein pararan la producción.Los primeros re shoots duraron 40 días, los segundos re shoots 20 días, y los terceros 10 días. El final original del primer re shot era más trágico y emocional. De todos los finales que fueron mostrados a audiencias de prueba, este era el que tenía mejor puntaje, pero a los Weinsteins no les gustaba ese final y demandaban otro similar a Scream, en el que el novio terminara siendo el villano.La película originalmente iba a ser Clasificación R, pero el estudio insistió en que el gore debía ser eliminado para hacer una versión PG-13, y así abarcará más público. Aún así, la cinta fue un fracaso de taquilla y crítica.Cuando los fans preguntaron a Patrick Lussier sobre el corte original de la película, dijo que aún tiene las 3 versiones que fueron hechas: el primer corte tiene un elenco completamente diferente, efectos de Rick Baker y el final incompleto; el segundo corte tiene efectos de KNB y el final trágico; y el tercer corte es la versión sin censura con todo el gore el cual tampoco fue incluido en esta versión Unrated, pero quien sea que tenga los derechos de esta película no está haciendo nada por lanzar esas versiones, pese a pedido de los fans de Craven quienes siguen pidiendo el corte original.No cabe duda que de las 2 versiones la mejorcita podría ser la versión Unrated.El Blu-ray de Shout Factory tiene audio y subtítulo en inglés.NO tiene audio ni subtítulo en español.
