Instructions on how to build switch panels for simulator cockpits.
This book covers quite well the steps for creating GPS and/or autopilot interface hardware panels. Tools, materials, switches, wiring, construction measurements, and some software are covered. The result is very similar to commercially available panels. This book is for a hardcore mechanical person who wants the touch experience of actual controls, not just screen or keyboard stuff. It is a good value.

Way out of date
Great idea for flight simmers like myself, but the web links mentioned in the book to download all the chip codes no longer exists .

Just read forums
There is very little content in this "book" that I found I didn't know already and I'm pretty new at building panels. Also, the examples provided in the "book" are what I consider quick prototypes that might get the job done if you have very limited expectations.

Print faceplate then sandwick it between plexiglass. Save your money.
Use your printer to print the face plates for the instruments then place it between plexiglass. Don't for get to drill a hole or two. Nothing new here. THX.

"A must have book for cockpit builders"
Three dollars for this book is unbelievable! Easily worth twenty+. If you are looking to build panels that are better and cheaper than saitek and others, this book is for you.Definitely worth the purchase.

Building GPS
Mark did an excellent job in designing the GPS. After I read the instruction book I also learned that I could not buy any more the complete set, only the 2 acryllic sheets. That is the reason that I will not build the GPS; sorry. I thought it could fit nicely to my small desksim. I enclose a photo.Cheers,Ben

Excellent for the home cockpit builder.
I bought this book partly to support Mark and partly to see how he does what he does. I have built a home cockpit myself in the past but Mark's panel design and methodology is much more refined than mine was. I wanted to get all the details and they are certainly found here. I would have liked to see a bit more about LEDs and backlighting but I can work that out without too much difficulty. Maybe an addition for the second edition? If you would like to build yourself some panels to hugely enhance your flight sim (or any other) gaming experience, buy this book.

great practical guide to improve your flight simulator
having real switches and instruments instead of having to grab the mouse vastly improves the immersion factor with your flight simulator. The author shows you how to do this on a budget. recommended.
