Alpine MRX-M240 2400W RMS Monoblock X-Power Series Class D Car Amplifier

I purchased this amp to power 2 12" Rockford P3s in my boat, This amp has POWER, lots of headroom and zero distortion. I am currently running it in 4 ohms since the P3 can only handle 600 each, but the sound and output is incredible, it will play for HOURS without thermal shutdown. HOWEVER, THIS AMP HAS AN APPETITE! plan to use a very big capacitor with this amp, I have 2 very big deep cycle marine batteries and it is able to handle long notes easily, however short, "kick bass" or "bursts" of bass will draw the supply power to below 10 volts, putting the amp into low voltage shut down, which is easily recoverable by simply turning off and on the head unit. adding a capacitor will avoid this. Avoid the off brands- Spend a little extra cash and buy alpine! I have had various alpine amps for years and I have been very happy with them all and I have yet to have one break down! Update- apparently, recommending the use of a capacitor is a very controversial thing to do, as the "experts" will tell you it is just a bandaid because it means your alternator isn't up to the task. Well I am using this amp on a boat and the engine isn't running during the majority of the time the stereo is on (ever been to a floating block party-awesome!) I have added a stinger 50 farad stinger capacitor to my setup and now the voltage doesn't dip below 12v at full volume. What is important for the purposes of this review is this, the m240 is still kicking after a year of ABUSE and I expect it to last for years to come.

I received a destroyed box inside a larger box used for packing, with only the amp itself, missing the wire covers, manual, and anything else that would be expected with a "Brand NEW listing"...... Not happy.

This amp is FOR REAL!!! It came with a Birth sheet which shows that it is certified to output more than the specified wattage. (Mine specifically showed 2,499 watts RMS x1ch @2ohms). I like how The input terminals for the Power wires are large enough to fit 0/1 gage power wire!! Which is awesome!! (I run KnuKonceptz Kolossus 0/1 gage power and ground cable). The speaker terminals are large enough for 8ga or larger speaker wire. I use this amp to run my single 15" Alpine Type-R. Its dual 2 ohm, so I wired it in series, to get 1,500 watts RMS at 4ohms final impedance. I like how the two hex key tools are included! And this amp barely gets warm! I know I run it at 4 ohms but still!! This amp uses/ converts power very efficiently. I have an output meter by Steve Meade Designs, and a stinger digital volt gage, and at full tilt my battery never dips below 13.5volts. I also have owned a HiFonics amp, which didn't put out as much power, but would cause my power to dip into the 12.5 range!! All in all, you won't find a better amp of this quality, for this price range!! Save up enough to buy this amp. It is well worth every penny!!

I've had it for a while now and i have to say i am thrilled with it. I don't have a large enough capacitor for it as of now (just a .5 farad), but she goes so hard. I have have it hooked up to two 12" alpine type R dual 2ohm vc subs in a 2002 cavalier, and it will shake the buhjeezus outta you and your car!! I can't even max this amp out and it hurts my ears a lot. It shakes the gauges, mirrors (all), anything in the councel, and your insides! Not only is it powerful it sounds incredible!! I can't believe the diference of sound qaulity and the fullness of it, and i was using an alpine mrp m-500. It sounds good with any kind of music i've tried! Gave new life to my subs and heck, even made country tollerable lol Bottom line i would recomend this amp or any amp or sub alpine makes. They stand behind their products and are very fairly priced for the amazing quality you get :D

I have this amp pushing 3 ten inch alpine type s subs and the gain is not even half way up and the subsonic is a quarter of the way up. It booms the 3 tens and its clear distortion free. The amp could push three 15 inch alpine subs and loudly.

I have this amp on two kicker solo L7's this set-up sounds really smooth, an the amp is more than enuff power for my subs. Doesn't hurt the battery amperage to much, but I also have a capacitor an a optima battery to back it up.

this is by far the most powerful amp i have ever seen..to start off .. with it turned down it fried two memphis audio subs..right now im ordering two new alpine 3000 watt woofers just to keep up with it.. powerful and nice
