Perfect for my porch swing
The first thing I do every morning is have a coffee on my porch swing, but it was always getting spilled by dogs or kids. This is the perfect solution. Clips on tight and hold a standard mug perfectly. Also fits a soda can or water bottle.

works as advertised, sturdy
I've bought a similar product from the same factory, and it works well. Larger rounded mugs won't fit into the cup, but narrower and straight ones will. The dimensions are accurate. The clamp works great with ikea tables, standard kitchen island edges, and most desks that don't have trim around the edges. What happens if you knock into this? Probably nothing. Maybe a few drips from splashing inside the beverage container. The container has to be really tall and receive a direct hit to fall out of the cup holder. I'd say that's about as good as you're going to get with a device like this, and I'm pleased. That said, I really want a cup holder with a cut-out bottom to hold my water and solo cups with no chance of spilling at all, but that would mean they'd be difficult to remove from the holder. If need be, I'll just dremel out the bottom of one of these or add an inner tall sleeve and superglue it.

Wont fit alot of my mugs but does fit a variety of other drinks and sits very firm.
I liked how easy it was to set up and how firm it sat in place on my desk. Seems good but beware of warping when out in the sun since it heats up the plastic and then the spring moves the moldable plastic. The main takaway that i would take about it was that it doesnt fit a lot of my mugs of coffee and such.

Better Than It Looks
I shied away from this item a couple times, but it has turned out to be the best of the options I've tried on Amazon. It's quick, easy, and surprisingly sturdy. I was worried mostly about the cup holder being too shallow for my drink containers. no problems in that regard. The only negative I have run into is that the surface area required to mount the device is much larger than other, more traditional designs that rely on a vise grip sort of clasping mechanism. Notice that the part of the clamp that makes contact with the desk is the same as the widest width of the entire cup holder both above and below the desk. that's about 4x more surface area than the vise mounts require. so make sure you have the necessary surface area above and below the desktop where you intend to mount the cup holder. (no nuts/bolts or other hardware sticking out)also note that the clamp isn't super tight. it very easily slides off. it would never come off on its own, however. just be aware that you can easily elbow it, and it will move. if it's mounted next to a corner and you elbow it a few times, it will eventually go off the edge, but that requires such a massive lack of awareness that I didn't take off any stars for it. same with the surface area warning above.

Why didn't I think of this?
These are the best thing ever! I use them at Mahjong, card games etc. They do not fit thick tables, but that has only happenend once to me. All my friends bought them too. Works well and is sturdy

Very sturdy, great buy
I have this on the edge of my sit/stand desk. It holds large glasses of water easily, including Tervis tumblers, and I've never worried that it would fall or slide off. I usually have at least a glass of water and a cup of coffee on my desk, so this is really handy to keep one out of the way. I folded up a napkin to put in the bottom to trap condensation, and that works great to reduce dripping.

Not Firm Grip
My desk is about a half inch thick and the clip did not feel very secure. It seemed like it would be easy to accidentally knock off which is the last thing you'd want to do with a beverage. I ended up gluing a sticky gel pad onto the top part of the clip and it is much more secure.
