The butane fuel insert is an interchangeable drop-in solution for all our Thunderbird cases. With butane instead of lighter fluid there is no odor, no taste, no mess, no spilling. More efficient longer lasting butane gas vs lighter fuel. Your pipe, cigar, cigarette tobacco will never taste offensive again.

VERY tight fit but good insert
You really need to make sure you find a way to widen the case of the zippo so that this will fit. If you try to mash it in it will get stuck and it’s near impossible to get out. Almost ripped its top off pulling it. BUT I bought two of them and they both worked just fine right out of the box. It DOES COME WITH FUEL AND MAY NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR RETURN.2024: update: still works every time I use it. Holds fuel like a champ, although I don’t use it too frequently. Updated it to 5 star because it’s definitely better quality than most. Although I will say I prefer the actual zippo brand insert, this one will not be thrown away.

Good product, but a little finicky
Not perfect, but I'd certainly recommend it.Definitely love that it's the pipe insert instead of only having butane torches available. I thought the enclosed insert would make it so that the butane doesn't evaporate, but it still does a bit. It's slower than the standard lighter fluid evaporates, though, so it's worth it. The flame doesn't always light either, which is a bit annoying.Overall, a good product and I would buy it again.

A great semi-disposable pipe lighter
The media could not be loaded. This is the third I ordered the first one on November 22, 2021, the second one on July 15, 2022, and the third August 21, 2022. The first two developed cracks in the transparent plastic, which soon meant they no longer would hold any butane for more than a few minutes. I re-ordered it because, aside from that, I love this lighter. Nearly twenty bucks every few months is not a huge amount, but I thought I would track my usage of this one to see how many days and how many lights I get from it before it cracks. That way, I can set up a "subscription" for it.2022-09-01: 285 clicks, no cracks yet.So far, I have clicked it 35 times. I will update this with the total (if I don't forget about it) when it does finally crack and I order #4.

Worthless
This insert doe not fit any of my Zippo cases, only in a generic case. As others have noted, it takes 10+ presses to get a flame. Very unreliable.

Kind of a disposable, but still recommend
So this is my second one I’ve ordered. I think the main issue is it sits really tight in the zippo. So after pulling it out a few times it loosens the top from the plastic tank. Which in turn makes it to where the butane eventually will leak out. Making it worthless. I wasn’t able to figure out how to fix. I do have the zippo butane insert. I’m left handed, so how it’s designed I’m not able to use it as easily. Zippo has a button you have to hold after you flick the wheel and it’s designed to be used in the right hand. If you’re right handed you might like the zippo one better. It is built better.

So far perfect.
Just received so not long enough for problems to crop up. But it fits my Zippo case tight. Enough that it takes a strong grip to pull it back out.Its working perfectly right now. Also, this looks much better being a chrome replacement for a flat gray insert. Flat gray is okay in some of my lighters. But for those like my Chrome Plated Zippo case this chrome insert is perfect!I have three different companies butane inserts for zippo cases. And these seem better than the others (operationally speaking). They all (all brands) start having some intermittent lighting issues after a year or so, and i always use butane claiming to be extra refined/clean. But this one actually replaces an insert from another company that leaks out completely within 48hrs.

Unreliable ignition
The lighter fits satisfactorily into my Zippo case and I've not had any issues with it leaking butane or having an inconsistent flame size.I HAVE had issues with reliability of the lighter, in the sense that it does not Iight consistently. This seems to be a problem regardless of fuel valve setting, and often can take 10+ attempts to produce a flame. The igniter produces a spark every time the button is hit, and introducing a separate ignition source after hitting the button ignites a consistent flame without fail, so I have concluded that the design of the ignition system is to blame. I've had moderate success pulling the igniter's probe closer to the end of the fuel nozzle, but overall I'd just recommend pursuing a different insert.
