Very rugged survival antenna, excellent product.
Might have paid more than from other vendors. However, rest assured you are buying a product made in America with an emphasis on quality. I will probably end up purchasing a second or third.SWR readings on 146 Mhz at 1.05, 446 mhz 1.08.With this strung up I have little issue contacting a repeater 48mi away (remember, that is straight as crow flies) on 4.5w VHF.Simply put I cannot recommend this enough. Excellent product. Thank you for actually taking pride in your work and producing such an excellent product.

Antenna works well. Excellent customer service
This antenna works quite well for its intended purpose as an easily deployable field antenna which will boost the range of a 2 meter HT radio compared to the standard rubber duck antenna. My intended use for the antenna was to use it in conjunction with a 20’ Shakespeare Wonderpole for ARES use. Set up this way, it has functioned comparably to my existing copper J-pole antenna which I use as a fixed mount at home….and you don’t need a tree. Another potential use for the antenna is to feed it inside a 5’ length of ¾” schedule 40 PVC pipe to create a rigid, protected vertical antenna which can be attached to a mast or post w/ a couple of hose clamps. Use a couple of press fitted PVC caps, drilled out for the parachute cord and coax cable, on the top and bottom, to complete the antenna. I made one of these as well and also plan to use it for ARES or Field Day use. Additionally, customer service has been excellent.Addendum: Instead of the schedule 40 PVC pipe which is the thick wall PVC, I found it better to use the 200 PSI pipe which is the thin wall PVC. Both are readily available at Lowes.

Changed my life!!
This product has changed my life. I live off grid and no cell signal. So I rely on a ham radio to be in contact with friends, neighbors and home when hunting or hiking. The survival antenna has at least doubled the distance I can reach with my hand held radio. Not having to climb up a high hill or mountain to ask neighbors to help get a bear or elk out is amazing!!Before buying it I read the reviews and one guy (Elmer), said it was cheap. I wonder if he even tried it? Anyway I can hit a repeater about 20 miles away which I never could with a regular antenna. I am sad at the moment though. I bragged about it to a fellow operator and he is still using it, guess I'll just buy another one.

Packs well and works well.
This is just what I was looking for. All you need is a light pole tree etc and you have a mini tower. I even built a telescoping plastic house pipe tower 25 ft high to hook it to since I have nothing over 10 feet in my yard. First transmission at 4 watt I hit the repeater 18 miles away no problem. time will tell how long it will take a beating in a survival background. thumbs up.

WAY better than a whip on an HT
I just used this antenna for the first time the other day, and I was easily able to hear and hit repeaters with my 5W handheld that are unreachable using 50W from the radio in my truck.

Excellent Antenna
I bought this antenna in Sept. of last year and am finally writing a review. This is an excellent antenna and is used on a Yaesu VX-6R, VX-7R and my base unit FT-2900. Just got my FT-2900 and got it working for a SHTF scenario and the antenna was hitting the simplex net loud and clear over 50 miles away at 30 watts (not the max power for my FT-2900). I am located at the highest point in my county so that does give me an advantage in comms. However, by using this antenna, I don't have to deal with putting up a permanent antenna outside as I ran my FT-2900 from inside my house. I will be buying one or two more of these just to have on hand.

Excellent product worth every penny
Arrived, very quickly via FedexOn the insert is the measured SWR and frequency it is tuned to, 146.021 and an SWR of 1,02My tests came up with almost the exact same numbers. The RT radio with a High gain Rubber ducky and even a Comet SMA " high gain " VHF UHF antenna could not reach even the closest repeaters without issues.Today we are reaching the majority of the local repeaters, some as far as 30 miles away!! not bad at all. This is a quality product, well conceived and produced.A few issues, it would help to get or use an SMA adapter that would prevent the "twisting" that occurs when trying to mount the small SMA male/ PL259 adapter cable. Also, the definition of a " tall tree" in Texas differs drastically from a " tall tree" in the Pacific North West ;) I use a nice length of bamboo that is about 18ft that works perfectly. For all of those looking for a great and easy solution to getting on the air, try this one you will not be disappointed.

Works amazingly
This antenna is easy to carry on hikes and when it's attached to my HT and I get it up over a branch it works amazingly. Much better than any of my other antennas on the 2 meter band.
