Love 'N Bake Baking Pastes, Pistachio Nut Paste, 11-Ounce Cans (Pack of 3)

I needed pistachio paste to make the recipe for pistachio cake in the Momofuku milk cookbook. After perusing the various kinds available, I went with Love 'N Bake - they seemed to be fairly reasonably priced, though all are expensive. Not having tried other brands yet, i can't compare. But this paste was quite yummy right out of the can (bordering on addictive), and stood up well in the recipe. I will buy it again.

If you love the flavor of pistachios, this is for you! I can't wait to make baked goods and gelato with it. It has such a pure flavor unlike so many pistachio things that taste like almond.

I bought this to make pistachio-chocolate truffle ice cream and it was great! It adds a beautiful green color to your custard and also a slight almond-y flavor. It has a rather smooth texture and is slightly sweetened. It would be a great additive for sandwich cookie filling. Delectable!

Tastes like almond paste.

I bought this thinking I could get a good and smooth pistachio flavor , I purposefully looked at the ingredient list that is on the back to see that it doesn't have ant almond extract.I should have read the reviews before purchasing this, big big mistake and waste of money.The company should list almond extract as part of the ingredients so people could know, to me this was a can of almond extract combined with green stuff and some oil and some sugar I ate almost a third of the can small bites at a time to try to find a pistachio flavor but again and again all I could is .... Yes you got it - almond extract . I dumped the rest of the can and threw away the other two.I don't know how other gave this product 5 of even 3 stars if there was a minus star I would have given that.

This pistachio paste did the job and made good tasting gelato but was on the sweet side, very strong flavor. I'm going to try the more expensive "Bronte pistachio cream" to see if its any better. Bronte not available on Amazon

The natural fats in this product made a great substitute for heavy cream. One bit of advice though is that it is so sweet that one should adjust the sugar in recipes to accommodate the sweetness.

I bought this hoping it could be used in place of the more expensive Bronte pistachio paste in David Lebovitz's Pistachio Gelato recipe. Apparently pistachio paste is not as standardized as peanut butter. I used the same amount as was called for in the recipe, but it was far too strong and had an unpleasant aftertaste. I would never attempt to substitute this for Bronte paste, despite the higher price of the Bronte paste. I gave this 5 stars because it isn't a fair comparison. It smelled great when opened, and had I used it on bread or in another recipe, I'm sure it would have tasted wonderful. I had to give this review though to warn others who might want to save some money on their Pistachio Gelato.
