how does the "touch" mechanism work? its so tiny. theres no button. i dont even see room for a button
Is the 5 nano a good backup choice for the 5 nfc? also would these two be enough to enable google advanced protection?
Most accounts that allow these typically also require a less secure backup option if you lose your key. So can't hackers just bypass the Yubikey?
Description says "designed to stay in the port so you can stay connected and secure anywhere." So if my laptop is stolen then so is my security key?

compact effective security key

My YubiKey Nano is perfect for travel and works especially well with my laptop. The small form factor is a huge plus; it sits nearly flush with the USB port, making it discreet and barely noticeable. Since it doesn’t stick out, there’s no risk of it getting bumped, bent, or broken, which gives me peace of mind on the go. Functionally, it performs just like my other YubiKeys — strong 2FA and secure account protection.

Works! Secure your information

Since I work in IT, let me just say one thing. After installing this for a few users, together with our ani-virus it has prevented phishing attacks 100%. We plan to provide this on more users. I will be listing things I like about the key and some things I dislike/recommendations in hopes that this will help you make a decision. Overall, I highly recommend this key and wish I would have gotten it sooner.Likes:- Made to stay in a laptop. (Do not loose the laptop)- It's easy to configure and really secure.- Small, discrete and easy to cary around.- Made in USA and Sweden.- If you have security concerns with Google or other companies.- it is not a google product, thus they will not have access.- It works with most sites and if configured properly can be used to sign-in to windows, mac or your network. YouTube will have several tutorials on how to do this.- Compared to RSA security keys, you get this at a bargain.- It's a consumer version so it is not overly complicated.- There are several security/authentication methods you may use. But, the simplest one is using 2FA (Two Factor Authentication). You can use this without giving your phone number or answering security questions (which we forget).Dislikes/Recommendations:- Not every site supports yubikey- There are additional software used to manage but takes a while before you can understand what these can do or how to use it properly.- Made for a laptop so it may be a bit difficult to pull it out. It's basically made to be kept in the laptop. 'Just don't loose the laptop. You need to attach a string or a keychain so you can pull it out easier from the usb slot.- From time to time you need to remove the key and re-insert it into the USB slot. There are also 2 points you need to consider.* Before purchasing the key, make sure that the site you will be using it supports this. Here is a list of sites which supports the key. The list keep growing https://www.yubico.com/works-with-yubikey/catalog/* You need to purchase 2 keys. Same a a physical door key, if you loose one, you have a duplicate. It will be more difficult verifying your information if you loose a key without a duplicate.

Great for Login.gov

Works awesome. If you have to use Login.gov this is a great work around to not having to get texts or use an authenticator app.

Limited number of businesses accept passkeys

Thought I would try Yubikey so bought the 5 nano (see picture). The product works fine but there are a VERY LIMITED number of businesses that accept passkeys so check the Yubikey website for a list. In my case I wanted to protect my bank, Wells Fargo, but they don't accept Yubikey because they use another passkey product which they charge $25 for. In my case, the only businesses that I can use my Yubikey with are Google, Bitwarden Premium password manager, and YouTube. That's it. I already used 2FA and strong passwords for these sites so it's probably not worth the $65 cost of my Yubikey. I wanted to try it so paid the price, but you'll need to decide for your own situation. PS. the 5 nano is really small as you can tell from the attached photo.

The perfect security key for a laptop that travels.

It starts with the Yubico quality in a very compact key that barely sticks out beyond the usb slot. Setup was fast and easy. The instructions on the Yubico web site are very clear and the construction of the unit reveals excellent workmanship. I have been using this unit on trips for several months now and it has worked very well. There is virtually nothing sticking out for it to hook or tug on that would cause it to come loose or get lost.

Fits perfectly in my laptop

I got this to add an extra layer of security and this works perfectly for my USB A port in my laptop. The keys don't come with instructions however on the back of the package it has a URL noted for yubico.com/start that has prompts to help you get started with instructional demo videos/links to participating websites that accept security keys (Ie: Gmail. Yahoo, Outlook, iCloud, etc).
