Product Description Revolutionary British electronica group Underworld move their innovations to another format with this video release. Using some of the most advanced sound technology available, Underworld are able to recreate the unpredictable euphoria of their live performances. As artists as well as musicians -- the band members also run the renowned graphic design firm Tomato -- Underworld have designed live performances which are all-encompassing multimedia experiences. This hypnotic pairing of cutting-edge sound design and innovative visuals lends itself perfectly to the video format and makes EVERYTHING, EVERYTHING a must for the Underworld fan and technophile alike. .com Yes, electronica has taken over the world of music. All you need to do is take a look at the first shot of Underworld's live concert video to see that. The sprawling, dancing masses that cover the fields testify that the medium has found its way out of dark, sweaty raves and into the global mainstream. The shot makes the crowds at Woodstock seem small. However, while seeing electronica live can be a thrilling experience, watching it performed at home on your television is a completely different story. The British trio Underworld is widely considered to be one of electronica's most popular acts (same class as the Chemical Brothers and the Orb), and this DVD presents nine of their hyper, 10-minute-plus jams in five different countries (Japan, Holland, Belgium, England, and Ireland). While the sound is crisp and the beats infectious, there's not much to watching an electronica band (you usually have your eyes closed at a show, frantically dancing). The band tries to rectify this problem by using Alan Parker-esque, headache-inducing editing techniques and more strobe-lighting effects than the human brain can possibly handle in one sitting. Also, to make up for the lack of dynamics, Underworld has packed this DVD with a ton of goodies. You can program the concert any way you'd like to hear it; it contains five minutes of outtakes and a couple bonus tracks; and, most quizzically, they included the full 90-minute visuals shown on the large video screen behind the band. Some hardcore fans may find the screen graphics mesmerizing, but mostly it feels like watching a screensaver with a soundtrack. If you can't wait for Underworld to come to a field near you, grab the DVD; otherwise, just go to a rave. It's cheaper. --Dave McCoy

The Best Concert
Everything about this is a 10/10 for me. I had owned the CD album for years before I discovered the DVD and I wish I would have known the DVD contains content not on the CD. For instance, the DVD includes a spectacular live performance of "Moaner" that is not included on the audio CD (I think they just ran out of room on the CD). The DVD also features Puppies, Kittens, and Rowla, also not on the audio CD.The entire video is put together by Rick Smith of Underworld (under the name Tomato Productions) along with Jono Griffith of Ernest Edits. They did a tremendous job of mixing crowds, Karl Hyde's performances, and video splicing from the official video releases over the audio. It should be said the video is not cut from a single performance; it's a combination of several concerts during their Beaucoup Fish tour from '99-'00. This makes sense because if it was one show, Karl Hyde would have had a heart attack - the dude never stops moving on stage.Karl's energetic performances keep the crowd going while Rick Smith and Darren Emerson are always behind the decks working the magic. Huge screens behind the trio display video minutia, randomness, and clips of the official music videos. Crowd shots are cut together from various shows and bring energy to the performance. Hyde's reaction to the crowd really brings his performance that much more to life.At the end of the DVD, the crowd lights a flare and it just really hits at the same time as the climax of Moaner - too bad this couldn't be fit onto the audio CD.This entire concert is a moving experience for me, I've listened to it over a hundred times. It's a perfect amalgamation of 1990s Underworld hits - and in the perfect order. Heavy hitters like "Pearl's Girl" are followed up by softer tracks like "Jumbo." The listener is gently introduced to Underworld with Juanita/Kiteless, which is a great track but sadly omits "To Dream of Love" from the album version... but this is ok as the ending of that track maybe isn't appropriate for a high-energy crowd.Karl Hyde offers variation in his delivery of the vocals in the tracks - but it's never over the top and not city-specific chanting or anything either. It's a nice blend of custom oration that makes this worth buying even if you have the studio version of all these tracks already.I've purchased a dozen of these and given them as gifts to friends who would have otherwise never been exposed to Underworld. I'm getting a lot of positive feedback and people asking "why was this never big in the US?" I don't know the answer to that question except maybe to say Underworld was ahead of their time. This is a classic concert, one for the ages.

Impossible to describe how good this is!!
This is absolutely the best music DVD i've ever seen. I wish i possessed the verbal prowess to put into words how good this thing is. Most live DVDs are entertaining just to sit there and watch. This one will at the very least have you sitting up and bobbing/shifting around to the music, if not have you up dancing around the room (as happens with me when watching King of Snake in particular). You can tell Underworld really put a lot of work into this to make it a great product. It is put together and edited so well, the way it interlays the backscreen graphics over the bands performance at times...the crowd shots...and just the general eclecticness, if you will, of the footage makes it a very enjoyable view everytime you put it on. But again, it is the way this is edited that makes it so great. You'll have to see it for yourself to know just what i'm talking about.I cannot speak highly enough of this DVD. I sincerely believe anyone who enjoys high-energy music will really like, if not love, this DVD. Of course, any Underworld fan would be crazy crazy crazy crazy crazy not to have it already!! A gem.

Everything... is more than I thought!
I have always loved the tunes that Underworld cranks out. Since I never make it to a concert, I thought the DVD would be cool. It has some PC features to make your own video effects over the video if you decide to play it on your computer. Its a bit old-school in that regard since PC software mutates and upgrades so quickly... it's nothing wee have not seen before. The concert however is great fun, and viewed on a robust surround sound home entainment system with the lights off... well it is almost, almost as good as being there. Like watching football on TV.. better coverage and all that. I watch/listen to it more often than I thought I would as well... If you are into club tunes and techno, this is good to have.

One of the best concert DVDs ever made
The amount of work that went into this DVD is stunning. High quality audio + video from around the globe that accurately re-creates the Underworld experience (and while they were in their prime). Underworld are known for putting on a REAL live show (as opposed to many techno artists who play a computer, Underworld mixes everything together live.) You can see how elaborate the stage setup is and how detailed these guys are about the sound they are creating. And then there's the visuals. Tomato (a design company started by Underworld) provides images that project across three massive screens for the live performance and this DVD captures the moment perfectly. There are actually 2 video tracks that you can watch when you load the DVD - you can watch the performance mixed with the visuals.. OR you can watch JUST THE VISUALS. Worth the price of admission for this part alone. This is one of the best DVDs I've ever owned. I'm currently on my 5th copy because I keep wearing them out or giving them away to friends. Highly recommended.

Underworld's best!!!
Greatest "show/concert" ever. To be honest they are not even my favorite band. This show is just that amazing. I don't even know what to say beside 'wish I had been there'. I must have watched it a 100 times and listened to the soundtrack/audio version about a 1000. Never gets old. I am always amazed by the amount of talent every single time.Bought for my husband's birthday. His pride & joy. He is actually the one who showed me the video online years ago.
