Vivid colurs from a quality manufacturer
The quality of these pencils is excellent, especially considering the price. As a beginner artist moving to intermediate, I wanted a good range of colours with more depth that could be easily blended together. This set ticks all the boxes and the pencils have that waxy feel to them rather than the chalky type cheaper set I started with. Great for those who are looking for something to move their drawings to the next level at an affordable price. No broken cores etc, sturdy tin to keep them in too. Would purchase again.

Great Quality
I have used this brand before and I haven't been dissapointed yet. It arrived very well protected and on time. I like the fact that the pencils are in a tin case. It's easier if you need to take them anywhere and it is a lot better tan your usual paper box. Great value for money.

Great pencils, shame about packaging
I bought these pencils as a gift for my art loving son and for the price, they seem excellent. As he has not used them yet, I don't know how they will perform, but nice tin, lots of good quality pencils, all good so far. My problem was that they were posted in just a thin carboard slipcover, not even corrugated cardboard, and no extra padding inside. Knowing how a slim package like that could get thrown around in the mail I was surprised the tin wasn't dented. Also as it was slim enough to go through my letterox, it fell onto my hall floor with a thump when it was delivered. I can only hope the leads aren't broken inside the pencils, but will not know this until they are used and sharpened. I specially read the reviews, worried about packing and thought it would be ok, but a wrong call for whatever worker thought that would be adequate!

Good quality items
Good quality items. For the artist in you. Albeit my 7 yr old daughter who loves drawing thinks she has to sharpen them every time we get them out. I think I'll be buying more sooner than we think. To sum up lovely colours and nice to use.

Fantastic product
Great tin of colouring pencils, so good over the past year i have bought three of them. With all of the adult colouring books available now these are great pencils to use if, like me, you like a change from felt tips/promarkers or similar. They sharpen easily to a fine point and are not prone to breakage. If you want a softer pencil then i would suggest their coloursoft range rather than these as you do need to apply a little pressure with these.

Currently good value...
...but not my favourite colouring pencils, from DERWENT®Everyone has a different drawing/colouring technique + their favourite tools, but, as a novice, I find these quite hard to blend and the paler colours do need a fair bit of layering to get strong colour.※ DERWENT ACADEMY※ COLOURING PENCILS※ TIN of 36※ PRODUCT REF: 2300225‘Made in UK’ooOooThe 36 came sealed in a quality non-hinged tin, measuring around 28.5 cm x 18.5 cm, complete with plastic-type inner and are ready to use. Each pencil is around 17.5 cm in length. The completely rounded barrel is black, with a SILVER coloured band & embossment:~ DERWENT ~ Academy Colour ~ The Colour, (e.g. 'Cadmium Yellow')The end of the pencil is a similar shade to the core/point, which is useful depending on how you store your collection. Mine started off pristine in their tin and I had every good intention of keeping them there, but my favourites soon find their way into various carriers when I am out and about! They sharpen well to a reasonable point with a quality sharpener when required and without losing half the pencil in the process. I have had no problems with internal core breakage. The colours in my tin are as shown on the lid, namely:~ WHITE~ FRENCH GREY~ GREY~ BLUE GREY~ BLACK~ CREAM~ BURNT UMBER~ BROWN~ RAW UMBER~ TERRACOTTA~ YELLOW OCHRE~ DARK GREEN~ LIGHT GREEN~ JADE GREEN~ OLIVE GREEN~ LIME GREEN~ SEA GREEN~ ULTRAMARINE~ DARK BLUE~ BLUE~ LIGHT BLUE~ KINGFISHER BLUE~ VIOLET~ PURPLE~ RED~ ROSE~ DEEP RED~ CARMINE RED~ BRIGHT PINK~ ORANGE~ DEEP ORANGE~ SAND~ YELLOW~ CADMIUM YELLOW~ NAPLES YELLOW~ ACID YELLOW...but it is worth bearing in mind:✏️ 'Occasionally it may be necessary to substitute with a product equal or superior to that specified...'From the back of the tin:✏️ 'For people who love to draw and want to develop their skills. Derwent has been making and creating artists pencils for over 180 years and, using their knowledge and expertise, bring you a range of colour pencils chosen for their quality and performance. Made with natural wood barrels and quality pigments, these pencils transfer colour to the paper quickly and evenly. They also blend together easily, to create a wide range of additional shades. Derwent Academy pencils are also easy to sharpen and break resistant.Techniques:1. Hatching ~ Create a variety of tones by drawing a series of parallel lines.2. Blending ~ Combine layers of colour to create a new shade.3. Impressed Line ~ Use a sharp very hard pencil to score lines BEFORE applying colour. Ideal for veins on leaves and animal's whiskers.'

Perfect for GCSE Coursework
Daughter is using these for her art GCSE work. She is pleased with them and states they are as good as some more expensive ones with less colours. She said the rest of her class use these.

Poor Quality
Terrible quality. I've been using coloured pencils in my art work for over 20 years. I bought these as they were Derwent, a brand I have used and trusted for years (I usually use their Coloursoft range). I just wanted something cheap and cheerful for my daughter who has decided to take her drawing and colouring more seriously, but I wanted better quality than the WHSmiths own brand, something more professional. These pencils are very weak in colour, Derwent may claim they use the same pigment in them as their more expensive brands but whatever carrier "lead" they use means the way the colour lays down is very poor. they do not layer or blend, they are very hard and scratchy, scuffing and fluffing the surface of the paper, and I have tried several different art paper types and quality. My daughter is very disappointed and so am I, a huge waste of money, the much cheaper WHSmiths own range that she had before were far superior to these.
