"When women get together to do good things, nothing and nobody can stop them
"When women get together to do good things, nothing and nobody can stop them!" states the final page of The Big Book of Girl Power. My daughter was absolutely thrilled to receive her copy of the book. She is totally into super heroes at the moment, and she is especially interested in female super heroes. I love that this book focuses only on the women in the super hero world, giving my daughter many positive role models. My son too can read the book and be reminded that girls are just as strong, smart, and powerful as boys. I therefore love the message that the book imparts to young readers. My daughter turns 5 in just a few days and has been reading on her own for over half a year. She can read much of The Big Book of Girl Power on her own. She only needed help with some of the names on her first few reads through the book. The information answers many of the questions that my daughter had about the female super heroes. (I must admit that I have never really been into comic books, so I was no help in teaching her about the likes of Wonder Woman and Supergirl.) My daughter and my toddler son also love looking through the colorful illustrations, which feature DC Comics classic art. Overall I am impressed with this book, and my daughter is definitely a fan!

Get this book for your kids
This book is perfect for your son or daughter who is into super heroes. My daughter is 4 and is big into Wonder Woman. These stories explain backstories of your favorite female characters. We're all about girl power and showing that girls are powerful and awesome. This book is great because they explain about the super power, but then also incorporate real life situations too - "she's helpful to her friends"... Just really, really great messages throughout. It was fun because my son who is 8 was interested in it as well... some of these super heroes he didn't know about so it's great to empower boys about the strength of girls too! Would recommend for any girls or boys. I would however say this book is probably geared to the 4-7 year olds.... 7 may even be kind of old. It's not a board book - but it's a very early reader. They have early reader books (level 1) that would be appropriate for older kids. This is just sort of a fun book to have kicking around.

Great book for inspiring young girls
I got this book for our 3-year-olds and it is a big hit! It's bright and colorful and has a diverse selection of characters for girls to imagine themselves as.Last year I got a similar book by the same author, the 'First Book of Girl Power'. DC SUPER HEROES: MY FIRST BOOK OF GIRL POWER I remember being very unimpressed with the first book, but this book is great improvement, answering most of not all of my complaints. It has a larger selection of heroes, including characters like the African-American Bumblebee and Japanese hero Katana which I welcome. The text is also better with less about how great these characters are, and more about the young readers themselves. There's also some effort to credit the artists (though many are left out).It is a big hit with our girls and keeps them enthusiastic both for reading and for imagining themselves as heroes going out and helping people.Glad I got it!

These are stories that I am happy to read to my 4-year-old daughter as they teach ...
These are stories that I am happy to read to my 4-year-old daughter as they teach about women who exemplify positive characteristics- hard work, honesty, learning, etc. I do have one problem with it, however...lets just say that you can tell that original artists of these female superheros were probably men. They all seem to have giant breasts, long slender legs, and skimpy outfits that don't look all that conducive to fighting crime. I know DC is probably just trying to be true to the original characters (who were probably invented to be eye candy), but I was still a little leery of giving it to my little girl. Kind of sending mixed messages about what makes a woman desirable, if you ask me. But, in the end I put my limited art skills to the task, and used markers to change the costumes a bit. You can hardly tell, and now I'm not super distracted by all the exposed skin while I read to my daughter.

BEST BOOK EVER!
A little embarrassing, but OMG, and I don't use that phrase. Ever. My 3 year old is in to superheroes, but the boy ones can be a bit of a tough sell, especially with the whole "why do you like boy things" in preschool. This is an empowering book for girls and educational for boys - there are awesome girl superheroes too. Now my daughter wants to be every superhero in the book. This is a girl who said to me "girls are weak", and I was appalled, and now she says "girls are strong, I want to be strong like Wonder-woman and bat-girl".Awesome, awesome book.

This book is written in a way to be empowering for girls and I am happy with the purchase
I bought this book for my 2 year old daughter and she really loves when I read it to her. She is a huge fan of Batgirl. This book is written in a way to be empowering for girls and I am happy with the purchase. Additionally, my 6 yo son loves the book as well. He loves Marvel and DC superheroes and it is nice for him to see a book focused entirely on the female superheroes of the DC universe.

Great for 4+ year olds.
My 4 year old received this as a gift for her birthday, and we liked it so much we bought another one for a friend's birthday. If you are using it for bedtime, it will take a few nights to make it through.

Strong female role models for your daughters and sons too!
I am so happy that this series exists for my 3 and 5 year old daughters. Itβs about time girls have strong female role models to look up to. We have read this book many times and still enjoy it.
