Q: What size pump is needed for best results? what brand/ model? if i order a1/2 hp pump, will it shoot further than a 1/4 hp pump?

I have a large inground pool and use this pump. Wayne 57729-WYNP WAPC250 Pool Cover Pump, Blue. It's 1/4hp and ot works fine. I'll bet it shoots 20ft

Not sure but it’s the same connection as a standard garden hose This product has been great….no longer have any air pocket blockage from long garden hose that not only made pumping intermittent but it also relieves pressure on the pump. Now I don’t have to place my pool cover pump every 1-2 years

Yes, you can keep this attached all winter long provided your coverpump has freeze protection. Wayne pumps with a check-valve, recommend removing the check-valve or water may not drain our of the CoverBlast. CoverBlast uses gravity to drain any remaining water out so it does not freeze and break. Contact info at coverblast dot com with any questions.

Q: on the blue little giant pump, does this help prevent airlock?

I'm not sure what "airlock" is. I will say, unlike the other 2 answers, we love this pump. No more frozen garden hoses. I've seen it shoot out water when I thought there was nothing but ice on the cover --something must have started thawing! We love this attachment. In regards to the pump--this is our 2nd one --they don't last forever, but at least 3 years I would say. I am hoping with no more frozen hoses, maybe we will get another year or so from the pump itself --maybe the motor won't burn out as fast.
