Good shoe for above-the-knee amputee
I've bought this shoe several times for a friend of mine who is an above-the-knee veteran amputee. As an amputee, he needs to take particular care to protect his remaining foot which does extra duty. His prosthetist noted that requirements for a good shoe include arch support and a firm heel. Prior to finding these Vionics, we tried several different brands of shoes trying to find one that met requirements including Nike, DIckies, New Balance and others. While some were better than others, yet all left his foot aching at the end of the day. Then I discovered Vionics and thought to ask him if he'd like to try.First, it helped that Vionics come in many styles - and they are all better than stereotypical orthopedic shoes. He liked this shoe because it looks an active shoe that he might have worn before the amputation. The first pair was ordered from another site. When the shoe arrived, he put it on and instantly knew it was different. It had support upward and also from the sides. The heel is nice and firm. His prosthetist even looked at the shoe and liked the support (firm heel, arch support) - and also liked that it looks like a shoe and not like a medical device. He has worn these shoes everyday for the past three years. From the moment he wakes up in the morning and puts on his leg until the end of the day when he takes off his leg, he's wearing these shoes. He wears the same shoe because when after spending time each morning putting on his leg, he's not interested in spending additional time changing shoes on the leg. He says his foot feels better, his arch feels better. As he says, "with Vionic, you know you're in the right shoe for you".A pair of Orthaheel Vionic Walkers last about 8 months with constant use. After 8 months, the heel has worn to the point that it's soft and the arch support has flattened noticeably, so we replace them with exactly the same shoe. Having done a long search for a good shoe and finally found it, he's happy to stick with what works. After ordering the first pair from another site, I've ordered them from Amazon since Amazon started carrying them because the price is right.

Perfect fit and excellent support
I have been looking forever for the perfect shoe fit and finally found it! Better yet, I found it in purple! :) Looking at other reviewer comments, I can verify that the heal cup is perfect and a bit narrow, but that fits my foot perfectly. I have ordered shoes in wide or extra wide before to get the toe box area wide enough for my bunion, but the heal area was too big and floppy to properly support and cushion. I have trouble with plantar fasciitis, so proper heel support is important. As the barefoot picture shows, I have relatively narrow heels, a high (although somewhat collapsing) arch that extends from the heel to to the ball of my foot, and a wide/square toe area. I also have a bunion on the right foot. These shoes are the perfect fit for my feet. The arch support is right where it should be, the width at heel, middle, and toe are perfect. I ordered my typical size (9.5W) and the fit is perfect. I have ordered this size in other shoes (Brooks) and the fit felt good except my toes were to the end of the shoes, so I had to send them back.I spend long hours on my feet as a teacher so I am hopeful that this perfect fit and support will finally be the key to not limping my way home at the end of the day.

Well made - good quality
I absolutely love Vionic and practically live in their post-toe sandals (reside in FL) which provide excellent support and comfort I have purchased at least 8 pairs. I have severely flat feet, plantar fasciitis and am now experiencing bursitis in my knee as a result, so I decided to try the tennis shoes. The shoes were pretty stylish looking for having a somewhat boxy-looking toe area. They were a bit heavy but they are leather. I couldn't decide if the toe box was too small or the shoe was too narrow. They rubbed the outside of my little toe on both feet where the leather was stitched. I wear a size 10 ladies in all tennis shoes but a 9 in the Vionic sandals. I ordered the 10 in this tennis shoe but am certain an 11 would be way too big.I have returned them because they are too small and waiting for a refund. I am not a big fan of sending items back repeatedly so I may not try another size. I wish they were sold in stores. Also, because they are from a third-party seller, returns take longer and overlap on my credit card due date. I liked the product, however, and love the company.

Stinks!
These shoe stink. Literally. I wore them one day and they reeked of foot odor. I do not have foot odor! Apparently these were worn by someone without socks and has a UGH! I didn’t use them right away and missed the window to return. Force to keep, I pour tons of foot powder plus new cushion souls from the manufacturer, purchased independently from these shoes. Love Vionic but be careful of these second hand sellers. Get some socks!

Second pair due to success with original pair
I bought a pair a year ago to support my high arches and avoid plantar fasciitis flair ups. I’m hard on shoes since I wear them in wet grass and walking in forest preserves. The old pair continues to provide support, but they show the amount of use I got from them. These are very comfortable and they aren’t ugly for an orthopedic shoe. Having feet that don’t hurt far outweighs any minor fashion trade offs!

Disappointed in quality decline
I have worn Vionic shoes for close to 10 years. It seems like the quality is getting worse. The insoles don’t have the previous support. In my last pair the eyelets were poorly sewn and ripped out. I expect much better quality for the price I paid

He Lives these shoes
My husband has trouble with his arches. Our neice recommended Vionic shoes and he loves them. His feet are well supported through the built in arch support
