I used this in a 10X10 room and it was fine. Not too strong and controlled the odors from two cat litter boxes in that room.

My roommate smokes, will this get rid of that smell?

I am sorry have not tried this odor tried lavender vanilla which gives freshness to my large living room. I imagine citrus would work well in kitchen. Their products are known to be good. I have one in my bathroom as well and does great job. Hope this was helpful
