Q: Is this device running the official google tv os or phone/tablet version of android?

It is running TV OS, But, noticed it did an update claiming OS 12, not possible, current version is OS 11 Updated version corrupted some of my custom apps. Haven't purchased one of these in a long time. I recommend Trans Lite Global RK 4 the best Google Certified Android TV Box I have ever tested. Also costumer support is excellent, company based out of Texas. I have sold over 50 of these to my customer's. great box.

Q: Can you get iptv apps?

Yes. You've got 2-3 things you need to do: 1. Enable Developer options (if the IPTV app isn't already in the Play Store) 2. Enable Install from Unknown sources. 3. Disable Play Protect (if the IPTV app isn't already in the Play Store) 4. Install your IPTV app and enjoy this pretty decent device.
