The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones / City of Ashes / City of Glass / City of Fallen Angels

I borrowed all these books from the library and loved them so much I wanted to own them so I could read them over whenever I wanted. I think the writing is brilliant - I would read anything Cassandra Clare writes but so far I've only read the 6 books in the Mortal Instruments and the 3 books in the Infernal Devices prequel. I would reccomend starting the prequel before you finish all 6 of the Mortal Instruments, so if you buy this set of the first 4 books, go start reading the Infernal Devices next - I think it will give you a lot of insight into the Mortal Instruments series and add to your understanding of the "world". It's a shame they ruined the movie - they would have had a billion dollar franchise. The books are incredible!

I saw that this series was being made into a movie and it looked intriguing, so I ordered the book series. I've read 3 of the 4 books and am totally hooked! This series has great characters, a compelling story, lots of cool magic and special powers, and just a touch of religion (God, Angels and Demons play a key role in the story). These combine into a world that the reader becomes immersed in immediately.This series is geared for teens and young adults, but as a 40-something dad of teenagers, I found this story a lot of fun to read as well.If you like Magic and Mystery then read this series!I just wish it was available for the Kindle.... 4 books take up a lot of space and don't fit well in my travel bag!

This is the e-book equivalent of a box set of the first four books in the Mortal Instruments series by Clare. These books are the kind of thing that I find hard to put down once I start reading them. Clare weaves an intricate magical world into our own world, and she gives her characters strong motivations. While Clare generally does a great job creating her characters and writing to a young adult audience, there were times when a character's response to a situation didn't quite flow with what I would expect of the given age of the characters, but this is more a detail thing in my mind than any sort of true deficiency in Clare's writing.I have seen in some places where Clare's books are associated with or compared to Stefanie Meyers' Twilight series. In my opinion, this has some similarities - the love story between Clary and Jace is an example - but I think that this series is a touch better. I think Clare's characters are a bit more rounded and the third person viewpoint gives more variety to the story telling.In the end, I would recommend this collection to someone who enjoys young adult literature, anyone who enjoyed the Twilight series, and those who want to read the book before the movie comes out. If you're going to read the first one, you might as well get the collection, since the cliffhanger ending of the books will have you reaching for the next one as soon as you finish. My one caution is that sometimes these books start to feel a little bit like a soap-opera if you read them all together - go ahead and space them out a bit if you have any self-control.One more word of note about the e-book collection format. I had expected to receive four downloads - one for each book. Be aware that this download is all four books in one e-book. It doesn't diminish the quality of the books, but it does change how you will look at your percentage complete when you're reading. I'd say this was a great value, so consider it if you like the kinds of things mentioned above.

They are great books, if you liked Harry Potter, Hunger Games, and Percy Jackson, you will like it.In a way, the settings remind me to World of Warcraft :)But: it is hard to understand who might be the real target audience.It has everything fantasy lovers want: shadowhunters, vampires, werewolves, warlocks, and an action-rich, well written story....and here comes the but: I find the steaming romance bits between Jace & Clary out of context and I flipped/tapped through the pages because of the too much details. I think it belongs to adult romance books, and sadly, in a way, rules out half of the potentials readers (male young adults).***Spoiler Alert*** First love turns out to be brother-sister attraction? Nothing to worry about, it will sort itself out: it is is a teenage book, things like that just don't exist :)*******************I am looking forward to see the first movie, City of Bones, coming out in August 2013. I think the actor for Jace is a perfect choice. After all, only Clary sees him perfect and dreamy, in reality he is a strong and intriguingly arrogant warrior.I find nice that ones the villain dies (not telling you when, and how ;)), the story goes on, just like life goes on, and the books still have a lot of stories to tell us.

These books were recommended to me after I finished reading The Hunger Games and World War Z. I am not typically a vampire/werewolf type of reader, but the storyline and characters made it an interesting read. I am currently still reading the series but have moved on to the second part (Infernal Devices- Clockworks) and am on the second book of that series. I would suggest the books for anyone who likes feel a connection with a character enough to try and predict what will happen next!

I can't put them down. I guess I did it backwards, I saw the movie "Mortal Instruments-City of Bones" and then loved the firm so much I ordered the books! So, I am quite the happy little reader! Each one of the books takes you farther and farther into these wonderful characters and you get to love them like they are your own family! I even found myself crying during the critical times!That constitutes a great book as far as I am concerned! Have to remember to order the next couple just to make sure I have the entire set!!

All the books were in perfect condition, the packaging was done well as to keep them protected on the way here. I had one day shipping and it was here before noon the next day. Read the books in just a couple weeks -- great series and a great buy, with an amazing price!

Amo questa serie e leggerla in lingua originale è stato fantastico, consigliato ai pochi italiani che hanno voglia di leggere i libri anche in inglese.

Sehr zufrieden mit der Aufmachung der Box. Es ist immer besser die Bücher, die aus einer Reihe stammen in Boxen erhalten zu können. Dann hat man sie alle auf einmal und es sieht im Regal besser aus. ;) geliefert wurde auch sehr schnell, nur in paar Tagen.

la lecture en anglais ne pose pas de problème, le récit est structuré et ne nous laisse pas nous endormir. De l'action dans chaque chapitre, je recommande !
