MAKE SURE WHAT ARRIVES ISN'T USED!!
First one that arrived was used and scratched up, so I returned it and they sent a NEW one to replace it. It was very disappointing but once that was resolved, I was able to happily integrate it into my pedalboard and I’m liking it!Be sure to check packaging. The first box was extremely worn, the bag the pedal was in wasn’t sealed at all, and the pedal was definitely a previous return. Also, they shipped it in a thin amazon bag??? They send other things in boxes, but something of this price range a thin bag??? Great pedal, not so great place to buy it from.

Good , very good, SRV, Allman Bros , Hendrix, with additional items.
I also have a slide rig deluxe mk 2 anda Bugera T50 Infinium (using clean channel only now)I tell you this because the chase for these soundstook me 30 years, maybe I can help someone elseout. The ts9's and 808's do absolutely nothing for my earsat getting this sound, here's what you need imo;Tube amp, should be decent , doesn't need to be Boutiquejust decent, a solid state or digital amp is not likely going tocover it.-This evh pedal or a Friedman be od , (but I give the edge to the (evh).-Slide Rig or equal , to give that little polish over the top, I think thisSlide rig is basically a high tech, expensive compressor, might notget the sound with a cheap compressor, not sure on that.Oh yes, a decent set of speakers, I'm using Bad Cat Patriot 2x12''s buthave a 412 cabinet with celestion vintage 30's I need to try that , itwill probably be better. There so much bs out there on youtube with people trying to sellyou stuff to get these tones, I have tried every pedal imaginable, usually little distortion pedals and overdrives, it wasn't till I spenda gob of money on these EVH and Slide rig pedals that I got thissound nailed.I did have a line six pod go, that was 'close' , running into my tubeamp, but nothing like what I have now.You can skip some pedal quality if you can run your goodtube amp dimed all the time, but most of us can't do that lol...I don't think you will ever get that quality sound with the cheaper80 to 100 dollar pedals, I have like 600 dollars now in justtwo pedals lol, but could have saved a lot more than that, had I knownthis is what I needed.I needed something for slide, the slide rig does that in spades, I triedthe SSS , it did nothing for me, now what is odd , is that the EVHPedal gives me most of what I need for single note leads andchording, but the slide rig adds a big touch of class and fatness to theoverall picture while not using slide. Also I should note that you need a single coil pup in the neck to getthe SRV Duane Allman , Dicky Betts etc sound, a strat works for that ,and doesn't have to be Fender, just a good strat with single coil , neck, then sometimes if using wah pedal , a hot rails in the bridge is ok orbetter than single coil , depending on taste. One more note on this pedal, what is incredible with this pedal is theoverdrive itself, when you only turn the gain up to like 7 or 8 oclockwhich means very little gain, this sets the base for that huge, clear, thunk thunk thatyou want for srv etc, but you can also turn the gain up for Classic Rockand achieve a high quality sound, I can't speak for today's metal, but it probablygets pretty close on that as well. This pedal is now essential to my sound, I may get a second one as this istrue bypass, and I would like to have a spare as well as be able to switchbetween classic rock and blues, without having to kneel down and fiddlewith the gain knob. It would have been cool to have that channel switchingoption, but really not a big deal, the pedal would have cost more andtake up more valuable space on a pedal board.I didn't realize this was made by MXR, a product that I never gravitatedto in the past, but truly this pedal is out of the park good imo. ..Props to the late EVH for his collaboration (I guess he did) on this pedal, really a great pedal.

WOW!!!
Wow! Just finished jam session with this pedal, im so impressed! I was looking for a low end beefy metal/hardcore sound thru Marshall 4x12 and 2 mesa boogie 12's. No distortion at high levels, each triple was clean. So glad I spent the extra money 🤘🤘

A suitable extra crunch channel for my amp.
To preface, I have a Peavey 6505+ amp head. It's a fantastic amp for metal with so-so cleans and a super heavy lead channel. The downside is that clean and crunch settings are shared on the rhythm channel. This means you can either have a "clean" clean channel, or a crunch channel, but not both. This pedal solves that dilemma.I have my clean dialed in the way I like on the rhythm channel and my heavy rhythm tone dialed in on the lead channel. I dialed in the MXR 5150 Overdrive for a nice mid-gain modern crunch and when engaged on the rhythm (clean) channel, this effectively gives me my crunch channel back. Almost like having a 3rd channel! I was initially worried that this would be a thin/digital sounding distortion, but that wasn't the case at all.Pro tip: I boosted the front of the pedal with a Tubescreamer and have a 10 band EQ immediately after this pedal and it really opens it up to make it sound more "amp like". I would highly recommend this pedal!

Very versatile!
I love this pedal because it can go from a light overdrive to a heavy distortion. It sounds exactly like Van Halen with the right settings and is very clean looking. I was very surprised when I bought it outside to bring to a gig and when I went back inside the white notches were glowing! I love how they thought of the little details and was very pleased with this pedal. Only wish it was even $20 cheaper so that more could afford and experience this wonderful pedal. I do understand though how it is high quality and therefore there is a high price. Would recommend.

Overdrive AND Distortion, as Dunlop advertised
This is exactly what I was looking for, overdrive and distortion. On the clean channel of my cheap practice combo amp, a Crate 120watt GFX 212T, this pedal can sound like any of the heaviest metal you’re looking to sound like. My guitar is an ESP Hexed tuned in drop C playing death metal, and this one pedal on a loud cheap combo amp could produce the simple tone many other pedals could not. Pedals such as the Boss HM2W and the Digitech Death Metal. I highly recommend this 5150 Overdrive. Im making this my one stop shop for my tone now. Dunlop did a great job in explaining in their marketing that the pedal was an overdrive pedal but also a distortion pedal. The 5150 Overdrive is one of the best overdrive AND distortion pedals on the market.Sponsor me Dunlop, you make the best guitar picks and now the best pedal. Spotify, Youtube, etc. our band Kavalkade to hear the tone I was trying to get closest to without buying a new amp

THIS is what a pedal is
I have been through sooo many OD pedals. I never found anything that was better than what cheap modeling amps could do. I had given up on drive pedals and sold all the ones I had. After seeing a few reviews I decided to bite once more. HOLY COW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm on stage in the 70ies again. To make this review even more impactful, I am playing it in front of a tiny Roland Micro cube! Just unreal this thing. Now I bought a proper tube amp just because I want to see what more sweetness this puppy hasl.
