Great double edge razor for a beginner like me :)
Want to preface this review with saying that this is my first double edge razor.I love the design of this razor. I also like that it is a chrome finish which looks and feels very nice. It is heavy enough by where there is enough weight to make it feel strong and study. The plates is easy to remove from the handle all you have to do is unscrew the handle using your hands. Easy to screw back on also. The grip on this also isn’t too bad however there is also another mulberry similar to this which has lines through the handle and that helps to give better grip. Just something you should take into consideration. So far I have to say it’s way better than using a cartridge razor. I tend to use this with a asta platinum blade and prosaso white shaving cream. After using make remove the plate and rinse since there could be hair stuck in-between the two plates and the blade.

Shaving bliss
I have been using this safety razor for about the last two months and can honestly say that it has made a huge improvement to my skin after shaving.I used to suffer quite a lot from ingrowing hairs; neck, chin and cheeks along with some strange 'dead' hairs randomly growing from my face. (previously shaving with one of these 5 blade razors)So I was forever checking my face over for these hairs or ingrowing sections.Since purchasing this razor and using the very good derby blades that come with the package I have not had any problems with my skin what-so-ever.No ingrowing hairs, no razor burns (didn't really suffer with this before hand)and the condition of my skin has also improved. And by this I mean that it is less dry, feels smoother and just appears to have a better 'glow' as I am not stripping out all the moisture along with several layers of skin.I have quite coarse facial hair but I only shave every 2-3 days. So I have been replacing the blades every 2 weeks. I could most probably get more out of them? but I have found that at this point they still shave very well without any excess tug on the skin. But considering that I have just purchased a pack of 100 of these blades from Amazon for less that £9 including delivery. That will give me almost 2 years of shaving blades. So not exactly wasteful!! but ensuring I get consistent great shaves. The razor itself is fantastic.Easy to change blades and clean with a great weight on it. You really just need to hold it near the bottom of the handle and let it glide across your face. No need to put any excessive pressure to drag it through your hair as this could lead you to cut and nick yourself a lot. (Thankfully I did okay on my learning curve, first couple of times you might but then it becomes much more second nature. It is a lot smaller than you imagine it would be..... Not a long handle but again you don't need a long handle as you are not holding and using this as you would have done previously with a disposable multiblade razor.Gently hold the handle and let the natural weight and sharpness of the blade give you a great shave.I would also recommend brush and shaving dish (I have found the shaving dish and creme to be much better to shave with as it dries out less on your skin.Maybe a little old fashioned as such! But you know what..... It provides such a great shave that those extra couple of minutes it takes really does make it all the worthwhile and I do actually like shaving again.Believe me, one very good single blade is giving me a much better shave that 5 blades dragging my skin behind a 'protection' bar. And this fantastic safety razor is a great product a a great price.Great Razor, fantastic shave and no more in-growing facial hairs to deal with.I would highly recommend this product for your shaving pleasure.

Free yourself from the tyranny of awful shaving!
**** Lengthy and possibly off topic review ahead! ****So to start with let me just explain my credentials, my modus tonde as it were (ahem).I have been shaving for the last 18 years (am 34) and I started on Mach 3's with Gillette gel. I have always had sensitive skin and when I say sensitive... well let me elaborate: My skin burns even in Scottish weather, I get red from my own sweat and from any heat over room temperature. If I used any cheap razor or disposable it was like a bloodbath, electrics made me come out in a rash and depending on the balm I used my skin would either get too dry or too greasy (I suffer from a 3 hour shave sheen). So the upshot of this is that I have tried all sorts of foams and creams and gunk on my face but never made the plunge into changing up the main shave weapon, the razor.I bought this razor as it has great reviews all over and I like to buy British! The quality is fine and I have not had any trouble with slips or with the size. The quality is great and it has a nice weight to it, no need to push on the face.I bought Astra blades and Wilkinson sword blades along with the included Darby blades as they are said to be less aggressive on the face. I find the Astra to be more aggressive then the Darby but the Wilkinson sword gave the best close shave/irritation ratio. Whatever you do, do not go for a feather blade or any other aggressive blade at first, try a range of less aggressive blades so your skin can get used to shaving this way as There Will Be Blood. On the subject of blood, make sure you get some sort of styptic pencil or Alum block as you just whet and rub the block over your face and it stops bleeding and helps with redness, be prepared for some man-sting though. This stuff also helps with having greasy skin and zits and I am finding that it is helping my T zone and the greasy bits on the side of my nose...I read the reviews and got myself some Proraso shaving cream for sensitive skin, I wanted to go for a good balance of price/quality as spending 20 pounds on some shave cream is not a good long term strategy. The Proraso shave cream is like liquid silk and makes a good thick lather like in a 50's barber shop. I use it with a cheap badger brush from the Shaving Shack and a wooden bowl, which I dry out after every use. I found the cream lubricated my face well and had a good scent and consistency. I had to use very little to get the amount of lather I wanted to perform the standard 3 pass shave.I shave after coming out of a hot shower, I also rub a little conditioner on my bristles in the shower to soften them up. I get the shaving water hot and leave the brush in the water for a few minutes so it absorbs water into the Badger hair. I then mix my lather and apply in a circular motion until covered. I shave using very little pressure, bearing in mind that on a mechanical level you are scraping a (literally) razor sharp slither of metal across your face for 10 minutes. After I have gone over all the difficult areas a couple more times I rinse in the warm water then whet and rub the alum block (Osma) over my whole face and leave on for a few minutes whilst I clean off and dry my razor, bowl and brush. I then rinse the alum off with cold water and apply Proraso Shaving Cream for sensitive skin (white bottle). I like the scent and the consistency in this cream and it absorbs into the skin without being greasy. The cream also contains witch hazel - an anti stringent and all round nice thing for razor scraped skin.On a side note, I find the Proraso cream also goes nicely with my Luna Rosa Extreme and my Elvis Jesus aftershave, but that is a personal preference. So in summation, yes I would recommend this. If you are new to DE shaving and want a well priced, well made, mantastic razor then you cannot go far wrong with this product.

Useless!
Tried two types of blades, Wilkinson sword & Feather, results in both cases unacceptable. I appreciate people have different face shapes and whisker strength, but for me, this razor, a complete waste of money.
