When my four-year-old batch of MUNGbeans quit sprouting, I came online and bought these. They arrived promptly. I sprouted a tablespoon of them,. They started growing overnight, and in only a couple of days, my jar was full of sprouts. I have enjoyed using them an egg, foo young, soups, and salads. Yummy, prompt, and fertile.

Very good quality. Every bean sprouted quickly and I became afraid they were going to crawl out of the jar and chase me around the kitchen! I was impressed how easily and quickly they sprouted. Next time I think I will only use half the measurement. 1/4 C instead of 1/2C as they over packed the jar.

What can you say about a bean? This was my first attempt at sprouting beans so I searched for a simple method. After soaking the beans overnight (about 12 hours) in a wide-mouth bottle, I was surprised to see many of them already starting to sprout.I began with a 1/2 cup of beans which yielded enough to last several days. I stored the unused sprouted beans in airtight food containers, covered them with water, and refrigerated them. I used the last portion 4 days later and they were still crispy.I would say this about the beans, they are fast-sprouting, tasty, and crispy. They're also much cheaper than buying canned bean sprouts.

This was my first ever purchase of mung beans to grow for sprouts. I went all in and bought the 4lb bag because I already knew I like bean sprouts. I watched a few YT vids for how-to instructions and with a bowl, strainer, paper towl, small plate and a weight to place on top of it I went to work. I have now gone through 2 full cups of dry beans (4 different growing sessions of .5 cup each) and with every session my beans grow better and better! I have very close to 100% germination every time. I do a 24 hour soak before placing beans in my growing setup and they are always starting to sprout roots by the end of the 24 hours. My last .5 cup of beans gave me 2 FULL gallon ziplock bags of sprouts! I have nothing but good things to say about these beans and will definitely be ordering from this seller again.In regards to hints and tips, I say keep it simple. I live in a super arid environment. I water the seeds twice per day and they’ve never seemed to suffer. I don’t bother measuring water pH, adding things to my water or anything else. Straight from the tap. We keep our house around 70-72°F as they sprout and grow. I do keep them protected from light so they don’t turn green and I use a weight on top of the plate that sits on top of the beans—a quart sized ziplock baggie filled about 1/3 of the way works beautifully. These are super easy to grow into sprouts and I highly recommend them.

These beans are really tasty and are very easy to soak, cook well and have excellent flavor.

50 grams of these mung beans grew into 205 grams of sprouts (after cutting off roots) in 5 days. They tasted great in bean sprout soup (as a substitute for soy bean sprouts).I used 50 grams because it's enough for 1 layer of mung beans inside a 8.5" x 11" sprouting tray.I washed and then soaked them for 5 hours before placing onto cheesecloth inside a sprouting tray. A 3-pound weight was placed on top of the cheesecloth-wrapped mung beans. Rinsing was done without unwrapping the thin layer of cheesecloth.The cheesecloth controls moisture and prevents sprouts from escaping the weight placed on top of them.My checklist for sprouting these mung beans includes recommendations from the Dept. of Horticulture at Oregon State University:1. use water that's close to 6.7 pH (I used citric acid to lower 9.5 pH water to 6.7 pH).2. use water temp close to 70 F and room temp near 75 F.3. use a weight on top of the mung beans (0.5 oz per square inch) for thicker sprouts.4. days 1-3 require rinsing every 4-6 hours for best results (especially on 2nd day).5. days 4-5 require rinsing every 6-8 hours.6. keep the sprouting tray dry as possible and the cheesecloth wrapped mung beans moist.7. always wash hands & sanitize everything (boil cheesecloth before reusing) and avoid cross contaminationIf the sprouts smell odd (like fish) at anytime then discard the entire batch and start over. Review sanitation procedures and try rinsing more thoroughly (1 full minute) each time.

First thing I noticed when opening the bag was how tiny they are! Right off the bat I was worried they’d possibly been harvested too soon but assumed these mung beans were ok based on reviews. Well … after 5 days of trying to sprout them - when normally you should have big long “roots” … you’ll be lucky if you see a teeny-weeny sprout. Wish I’d searched other reviews about this issue, but in all my decades of using mung beans I’ve never had this problem. Again I stress … these are VERY TINY beans. I wonder if they are even cook up well for Dahl recipes? I only bought these online due to other reviews, that they were organic and because where I now live there isn’t an “ethnic” grocery store nearby. Don’t waste your money on this brand.
