You put this oil on dry hair and scalp. Take a small amount of hair oil in your palm, use finger tips of your other hand to massage the tip of your hair and the scalp with the hair oil. Once you have covered entire scalp, leave it on for 30 minutes, and wash it off using your regular shampoo.

I would say no to both. My oil was smooth with no particles in it
