Excelent Product, but requiere hours of practice.
My 12 years old son bought two of these. Whatched the video and practice for hourse and he love it!This is an acrylic and metallic ball and pretty heavy. I don't recommend of very young kids. If they throw the ball, it won't fly, will be directly over your loved hard wood floors, or your feet! So "gravity" is just a word, this ball.........is a ball, not a tennis ball, I would say over a pound ball. So, if you want a flying ball this is not for you. It takes several hours of practice to make those drills and it will look like they are floating in the air.

Good for an introduction to contact juggling, just make sure you know what you're getting.
Despite the negative reviews I bought one of these a few months ago so I'd have something to do while my wife was out of town for three weeks--I practiced each evening when the kids were in bed. Actually, I think it's a good deal. At the time I paid $9, and here is what was in the box: the ball itself, a simple DVD with instructions on some various contact juggling techniques, a cheap bag for storing the ball, and a plastic stand for displaying the ball on a shelf or desktop. Everything I needed to get started. If I keep practicing and actually pick up some skills I'll have gotten my $9 worth out of it, and can then move on to a better ball and some better instruction. If not, I'm only out $9.The ball isn't the greatest; the other reviews are spot on. But what do you expect for $9? It's good enough for an introductory ball. As other reviews have noted, the ball breaks easily (I also noticed it chips and scratches easily--one star off for that). The solution is pretty simple: don't practice over a hard surface! I practice over a carpet, or in my room facing my bed. That way when the ball falls (as it does frequently) it lands on the blankets and mattress. The DVD isn't professional quality, but it's good enough for what it is: an introduction to contact juggling. It's certainly better than learning from a book. I'm using the DVD and find it fairly easy to follow. I'm not as good as the guy in the video, but since he explains the steps of each technique and demonstrates them, with a lot of practice I can become good. Finally, contact juggling isn't some magic art or game. It's a skill, and it needs to be developed with patience and practice. Lots of practice. This isn't a toy for kids, and the ball isn't going to appear to "float" at first use. If you purchase this thinking it's going to entertain your kids, or you are going to immediately do the stuff you see in the video or commercial, you will be disappointed. If you are curious about contact juggling and want to try it out without spending a lot of money I think you'll find this suitable.

It's just a overpriced ball!
It's a rip off! Firstly, children do not understand even with parental explanation that this ball does not defy gravity. Secondly, the advertisement says that the "trick" can be easily learned. Not so. Hours if practicing with snaking this thing around your hands is boring, and looks exactly like what a person is doing...rolling a ball in their hands. Wouldn't recommend it even for a person that enjoys the "practice", it's a waste of time. All of it. Winds up becoming a paperweight and doesn't even fill that category well enough to justify the price. Advertising too vaque-toes the line of actually making false claims. One important point the commericial missed was how BORING this thing is, whether the "illusion" ever works or NOT. save your money and forget this magic!

Not magic, not gravity defying
Drop it and it will break, its basically a glass ball with a metal ball inside. You need to spend hours practicing to learn how to spin, slide and whatever else with this ball, it looks fun, it looks cool but in no way is there any magic or gravity defiance to it. Its a cool looking breakable toy is all it is. It might be fun if you didnt have to spend hours learning how to handle it and pray you dont drop it.

A Lot Of Hype For A Little Fun
This is not a bad item if you want to get into contact juggling. Unfortunately it's so overmarketed that kids think it's more that it is. I sat down with my niece who was wanting this for Christmas and showed her videos online so she understood what it really was. She still wanted it, so I got it for her. She has had some fun with it, but mostly it just sits. Contact juggling takes time and effort to learn, so it's not for children with short attention spans. It's well packaged, comes with an instructional DVD and holder and seems to be of decent quality. It just isn't going to do what children see advertised without a lot of practice.

I don't understand the hate.
Why are you all saying it doesn't work? To start off with, there is nothing that can literally "defy" gravity. I mean were you really expecting it to float on its own or something? Come on, be serious. It's for contact juggling. It's an ancient art that you'll need patience and commitment. The word "contact" should be a clue in the first place. Anyways, this product is great for beginning contact juggling. It's cheap, durable, and there aren't many other contact juggling balls that look even remotely close to this one. All in all, buy it. Try it. If you don't like it or have the patience, then contact juggling isn't an art you should learn. So, I give this product a 5 out of 5 on everything!!!
