They're thin. I don't have one with me so I can't measure, but as I remember they're between 1/8 and 1/4" thick. They swell a small amount when wet.

Are they fast absorbing like a bounty paper towel? Looking for something that won't leave traces of water behind after wiping a wet counter.

I love these "sponge-like" dishcloths. They are very popular in Sweden, where I first tried them. They do pick up fast and I don't think they leave traces of water unless they are over-saturated, you'd just have to squeeze all the water out and wipe again. They wash up nicely in the washing machine, I just lay them flat to dry. Good Luck!
