Quick and Easy

These gas struts work just fine. When the struts on my Jason camper top went "mushy" and wouldn't hold up the rear panel, things got annoying. I found a number on the struts and did an internet search. These came up with a different number, but the length was correct. I ordered from Amazon and got them in 2 days. The old ones popped off fairly easily and these snapped into place without difficulty. They're working great!

Work great!

I bought this to replace the struts on my F150 camper shell. The camper shell has a glass door that lifts up. It has been a number of years since the old struts have been in service. They needed replacing a few seasons ago. I knew to measure the extended length (from center of ball mounts) and the retracted length (center of ball mounts). I wasn't sure how to figure out the pounds of force. After surfing the net, I realized it depends on your application (yes, I already knew that). There were no part numbers on the old ones that helped. So I took a chance on these 28 lbs of force. I ordered these struts and they arrived with in a few days. When I installed them it around 30 degrees, a cold daytime temperature for the southeast. Installation was quick and straight forward. Just place a small screw driver under the metal clip a lightly pry it back. Place over ball mount and push toward ball. Remove screw driver and wiggle ball mount till it the clip locks into place. Each mount takes a few seconds to install. Note: most manufactures suggest installing struts with the gas cylinder on top (thicker end). Anyway they work great! The 28 lbs of force is more than enough. If your camper shell struts need replacing, this is a great choice.

Money well spent

What an amazing concept. Now when I push the button on the campershell door, the door actually opens! It's been almost a year since I installed a pair of these, and they still work. I saw other air springs listed here on Amazon but decided to stick with Suspa because that's what came from the factory. Assuming that the Suspa air springs that were on the truck when I bought it were the originals, they gradually lost pressure but were strong enough to keep the glass door up by themselves for about 7 years. Can't believe I put up with using a stick as a substitute for 17 years after the originals quit working. Told my wife, the air springs were money well spent. She strongly agreed.

JUST LIKE OEM

Received the product and installed in about 5 minutes. Works great and the fit was just right. Read some of the other reviews and saw some comments about them being slow. From my experience with gas shocks on different applications, this is a normal thing and how they should work. These were installed on my truck cap and when I open the glass, yes there is a delay in opening, and again, normal as far as I am concerned, and takes about a whopping 3 seconds for the glass to open fully. Compared to getting smacked on the head from bad shocks, I can spare 3 seconds for it to work as it should! Happy with the purchase, packaging and shipping and performance, and would recommend these to anyone. And made in the USA, you can't beat it!

Works Great, Missing Install Instructions

I used this for a 3x6 foot lid on a DIY enclosed raised garden bed. It's working perfectly so far. See attached photos of my project.I knocked one star off because they do not provide installation instructions, tips, or documentation of any kind.I spent two hours installing these gas springs in many different positions until I finally found the magic spot where they worked correctly. I would have greatly appreciated some documentation and placement tips for those of us who're not simply replacing existing gas springs.

Really good replacement

The strength is strong. The speed is fast and the ease of replacement is easy. The pressure is around 50psi. It'll hold a canopy wondow closes quite well and opens it fast and keeps it open.

They worked perfectly

I have a Leer shell on a Toyota Tundra. The shocks on the rear, "flip up" window began to fail. After a few irritating glancing blows to the head, and more near misses, I decided to replace the shocks. I had never done this before.First, I watched at couple of youtube videos to see how simple it should be. Then I typed in the manufacturer & the part number into Amazon. Although, there were slightly less expensive vendors, I went with the manufacturer that Leer originally chose. I now have, new, STIFF, shocks installed. It took less that 10 minutes, including scrubbing the leaking fluid off my hands from the removed shocks.
