Works like a charm, old jeans are anew!
So I was very dubious with this product and fearful for my lovely washing machine, however, it turns out fears were not necessary.I tested this with two pairs of old jeans that were blue but faded to that nasty not quite light, not dark blue. I like those nice dark blue jeans; that was the dream.Threw these old jeans in and they are now that perfect dark blue jeans colour I like. Amazing! The packet was easy to use (basically just throw it in) and all included i.e. no additional salts etc required. There is some residue left in the machine (although it was more like a blue gunk than dye..) I threw in an old white tshirt afterwards (gunk residue still there) to see if it dyed the tshirt bkue.. it didn't. Wiped gunk away after anyway but the dye wasn't 'active'!The colour worked perfectly for the two jeans I put in (2 jeans per 1 packet) but you can have more/less if you want a lighter/darker shade you can also mix dye packets if you want different colours (red+blue=purple).Really pleased with the results and will definately be getting again. Looking forward to trying the black dye to see if I can get my black jeans 'renewed' too!

GREAT!
I used the velvet black dye to recolour 2 pairs of black top man jeans which always seem to lose their colour fairly quickly. So rather than forking out £40 to buy one new pair I decided to dye them. Really simple, washed the jeans first to clean them, then put the dye in with the damp jeans and put on a cotton cycle at 40 degrees. And they came out great! Did another cycle as instructed, with detergent this time. Air dried them and they look fab. I will have to see how the colour holds up in future washes.WORD OF CAUTION: the dye does leave a dark residue on the seal of the dryer. I got this off easily with a damp cloth and some bleach then rinsed the bleach away. ALSO, please check under the seal, there was a lot of dark dye under the seal where the water is drained. I have seen negative reviews saying that people's clothes were stained even after doing another cycle while the machine was empty. I think it is because people don't check the seal. After doing this, I did a test wash with a white shirt I don't care about and it came out fine! So please do check you have no residue to save yourself the aggro of having your other clothes ruined.

Brilliant dye, but colours very confusing to buy.
Colour was paler than I expected. It is really a challenge buying dye over the internet when you are not given comparisons. If you look at all the various greens, many look exactly the same colour on the box in the picture on the internet. Only with dark green do you know for certain it will be dark. It would be VERY helpful if Dylon put up a colour chart with the box of dye, so you can see a little square of all the different greens. This way you could pick the one you want. It's impossible the way it is sold now as you have to make a wild guess with no guidance what so ever! However, I can't give a rating of less than 4 because Dylon dye is brilliant dye. Colours are rich, dying procedure is so simple a child could do it, colours last for ever and hardly run at all after you've dyed something, and within 2 or 3 washes, never run again.

Great stuff - works well and is easy to use and not messy
I've used this twice now, once to dye a polycotton sweatshirt and linen/polyester mix trousers - both worked well, just a bit lighter than you would get with a pure cotton or linen. Next I dyed a cotton sheet and pillowcases which came out really well. It is much easier now that salt is included. Basically you just pre-wash the items, then do a 40 degree wash with the dye in the machine, then do a wash with a bit of washing powder added, finally wash the empty machine. There was no mess at all. I think it says to use rubber gloves but I didn't need to - I just cut open the pack and it was easy to put the dye into the machine without touching it. Although it says to used the full programme, I must admit I used a quicker (1 hour) wash, and for the pre-wash I just rinsed as I knew the things had been washed a lot so would be fine. I had no problems at all, most of the things I dyed have been washed since and didn't fade or colour other things. I would definitely use again. Pewter Grey is a nice darkish grey.

Good product - follow the proccess
I took on the task of dying the faded covers of a 6 cushion 3 seater sofa plus 2 small cushion covers. Having read the instructions and some of the feedback I decided I required 9 packets of dye - 3 for the main cover and 3 for each set of 3 seat covers and 1 small cushion cover. I chose a colour similar to the existing one of the covers. It was a three step process for each load 1) wash the load to remove any dirt etc and also a wet item will absorb the dye more evenly 2) remove wet item(s) empty 3 sachets into base of machine and let powder fall through the drum replace wet item and wash as 'bulky' or 'duvet' whichever gives the req'd temperature as this will also provide a wetter wash in our now 'eco' friendly machines 3) wash the load with detergent and conditioner to complete process. Finally after all 3 repeats of the above run the machine on an empty cycle to clean it. I did have a bit of discolouration of the hard water scaling between the rubber seal and the drum which came off with a quick scrub, also bits of fluff from so many washes which all wiped off but no problem with discolouration of the rubber seal. I've done lots of washes since with no problems at all. Yes it did take a whole day to complete. Yes some of the badly faded areas are not as dark as the rest but the overall finish for the task in hand was really very impressive and I am very happy with the results of my effort and the dylon product.
