Very straight forward

So Simple just do as it says! i used mine with a LightwaveRF 1 Gang Wireless On/Off Light Switch Stainless Steel JSJS LW201 SS, to manage 2 LED spots over a dressing table was looking at having to chase the wall for a traditional switch which would have taken several hours been very disruptive and require redecoration. With this i just needed to run a cable via loop-in from existing lights and rather than run a switch wire just fit the inline relay with a cable to each spot. One tip associate the really and switch before fitting the switch to the wall. i wired everything on the ground to begin with so i could associate the relay and switch from the same room, rather than press the button on the relay then go back down and press the button on the switch, you could of course just take the switch to the relay.

Great Lightwave product.

Purchased with a few more items of the Lightwave products.I am an electrician though and found the install very easy.Used with remote switches and the hub it can easily be controlled. For the cost it’s a great buy and works very well.

Be careful of the headline power rating when using these with LED lamps

The headline rating for these units is 250 Watts, but that is only for incandescent lamps (ie Halogens, filament lamps) if you are using LED's the maximum recommended load is only 60 watts. i used two of these to Dim and switch 2X 50 Watt LED light panels each. Total load 100 Watts per Dimmer, they worked for a few days and then they were fried. The 60 Watt LED Limitation is in written in the manufacturers instruction manual but easily missed, basically there is an internal thermal fuse that blows at a certain temperature and the unit goes dead.

This is a good product. Ive used it with 12v halogens under the cupboards in my open plan kitchen. The lights dim down to a very warm and attractive light. The dimmer has a nice action and pairs faultlessly with iphone app and lightwave wireless dimmer switches and is easy to wire up. It needs both a live and neutral wire, so not suitable for placing in light switch recess (in the UK that is usually just switched live), and in any case it's too big to fit into even a deep single gang back box.

It works with LEDs

The good news is that this product, unlike all the other dimmers in the LightwaveRF Connect range, does work with LEDs, and the 'dimming range adjustment' feature is very effective. The bad news is that it makes quite a loud buzz while it's dimming (audible within 2 metres), and it is distinctly bulky - too big to hide in a standard electrical wall box, for instance - and it doesn't look too elegant sitting on the table or floor in the lead to an individual lamp. However, the remote control side of this product range is much better designed, and does deliver a very useful - and usable - facility. I'm using these in a room with a dozen downlighters in the ceiling on one circuit, and 4 separate floor standing lamps, each with one of these dimmers. The 'mood lighting' version of the remote is excellent, allowing 3 different combinations of dim levels to be preset for different situations (e.g. Max light, socialising, watching TV) while still retaining the ability to adjust everything if you need to.So overall, I would buy these again, but I'm very much hoping a Mark 2 version comes out very soon.

dial in your own levels

These units are great for dimming lights in the home or even in the garden!! the range I have seen on these is over 40 meters in a house. they are very easy to set up and have a rotary adjustment to eliminate flicker from LED lights. they really are that simple.

Works nicely.

Works exactly as advertised with the Link unit and the LightwaveRF handheld remote units - no issues at all

Buy some sunglasses if you plan to use a lot of lights on these

Beware. . . These do not behave in the same way as the wall mounted dimmers!!!!When they are switched on, their wall dimmers fade up gracefully to the preset level. Unfortunately their inline dimmers don't do that. They go immediately to maximum power and then dim down to the preset level. Probably not a problem if you just have a couple of bulbs but in my new open plan ground floor I have a mix of downlighters and chandeliers and I get blinded every time I switch the lights on.The manufacturers told me that its done this way to be compatible with LED bulbs. Well I am using 50w halogen bulbs not LEDs.So what does that actually mean? The wall dimmers are not supposed to be compatible with LEDs and the inline dimmers are?All I know is that I need to close my eyes for a few seconds every time I switch on the lights. I made an expensive mistake and the manufacturers are not interested in doing anything about my situation hence the 1 star.
