Great Value Wheelset
I was in the market for a pair of mid depth carbon wheels to replace a pair of Easton EC90 Aero 55s that failed at the brake track and took a chance on these. In my hunt for new wheels I settled on an unbranded, open mold, 25mm wide, 50mm deep, tubeless carbon rim laced to Novatec hubs with Pillar aero spokes. This seems to be the basic build that a lot of these new wheel companies that are rebranding open mold stuff go with as their basic line. This basic build retails for over $1,000 with other private label brands and you could go fancier with Sapim CX-Ray spokes and DT hubs but I decided to keep it modest. After shopping around those specs with all of the half decent Chinese wheel builders, these ICAN wheels were marginally more expensive but came with the added bonus of Prime shipping. Without the 2-4 week wait for shipping from overseas and the potential cost of customs fees I purchased these. Two days later they are on my doorstep waiting to be built up. They were true and properly tensioned out of the box and very close to the stated weight spec at 707g and 886g with no rim tape. All it took was one wrap of Stans tubeless tape and a floor pump to seat a pair of Schwalbe One Pro tubeless tires. At 85psi, the 25mm Schwalbes measure up a touch over 28mm and almost perfectly flush with the profile of the rim. If you're on a bike with clearance issues you might want to size down to 23mm tires. After 500 road miles and a few crit races the wheels are still true and the hubs are rolling smooth.I was so impressed with these wheels that with the CX season right around the corner I plan to pick up a pair of disc brake ICAN wheels for my race bike.
