This is a good lotion that (at the time of my purchase) received a "2" rating for toxicity at ewg.org/skindeep. Another reviewer gave this a lower rating because he/she said it was rated poorly on the ewg.org site, but I think he/she did not look into this specific lotion for its individual rating. Many times a brand may have a lot of badly rated products but also may have some good ones. This is the case with this lotion - the fragrance free version. I agree that it is not as effective with extremely dry skin, but it isn't meant for treating very dry skin - it is described on the bottle as a "daily lotion." Another point made by previous reviewers that I disagree with is that this lotion DOES absorb well into skin. As with most lotions, it takes a couple minutes to sink into the skin after applying. I think some of the bad reviews has to do with expecting this lotion to heal very dry skin when a different product in this line is formulated to do that: (that also got good ratings on ewg.org's skin deep database)BabyGanics Bye Bye Dry Moisturizing Eczema Care Cream, 8 Fluid Ounce, Packaging May Vary Even though my child does not have eczema, I use it often during winter when her skin needs more moisturizer.) So, the BabyGanics Smooth Moves Daily Lotion is great for daily moisturizing for normal to moderately dry skin and the Bye Bye Dry is great for really dry skin. Most days I mix them together to get the right level of moisture.

My son broke out in a rash after using this product. Also had a terrible smell

I love this lotion. I keep a bottle of it by my desk and one in my daughter's room for after bath (she is nearly two). After a long South Dakota winter, my hands were always dry and itchy. In some places, it looked like eczema and I was concerned. I tried many products, including thick hand creams from the big stores, Neem oil, and beeswax rub-on lotions. Nothing helped. Then I decided to use a bottle of this lotion myself because my Subscribe & Save order came with two bottles. Within a week, my hands were soft, the itchy patches were gone, and the eczema was under control. I was surprised - and thankful! This lotion works better than expected, even on an adult. So let's see, the lotion is light and rubs in easily. I appreciated that it is nonscented; sometimes, if I want a scent, I'll add a drop or two of essential oil into a quarter-size blob of lotion and then apply. The 17 ounce bottle size is quite generous. I'm looking forward to my next Subscribe & Save order. My kitchen and bathroom needs this lotion, too!

This was my second or third time buying this product. Nothing is truly fragrance-free but this lotion is pretty close. It has a subdued, clean smell which is nice. Other than that, it is just a typical daily lotion. However, there must be a formula change - or, perhaps I had ordered a different product from the same company. The lotion was not as rich and felt more slick or waxy this time around. I had to reapply more often or use it with another product. In short, I won't be repurchasing this year.The first time I came across Babyganics I was looking for a daily moisturizer for the fall and winter months. My logic was if it's a baby lotion then the product would be formulated for sensitive skin and, therfore, have fewer irritants. Although I have learned not to take labels like 'organic' too seriously, the story of the founders looking to make products they would use on their own children was compelling. The ingredient list was concise yet full of natural or, rather, plant based sources known for maintaining healthy skin like cocoa & shea butters, avocado & olive oils, aloe and some other plant derived goodies.Of course, I expected a few emulsifiers and preservatives ('natural' or otherwise) to be present but I don't remember the long list of alcohols (cetyl, cetearyl), solvents, preservatives, and I-don't-know-what being there. My skin didn't react to any of it - no rashes or acne - so I used it up and moved on. 3/5 -BP

While the main use for this is for babies, it also works very well for people who have extra sensitive skin. I got it for my Mom who, at 93, is not able to deal with the heavy "adult" type moisturizers. This, however, provides just the right amount of moisturizing without any greasy or oily residue. It absorbs quickly but remains effective for a good amount of time. She's finding it very helpful in dealing with dry winter skin issues.The only issue she has with it is that the pump dispenser is a bit hard for her to operate given her hand strength. I won't downgrade the product for that since, for most users, it's not going to be a problem.Well worth considering for anyone with sensitive skin.
