Love at first listen
I picked these up after being an extremely big fan of the original M50s. The cord ripped so I was pleased that this has a detachable cable. Firstly, these are better than those old M50s that I had. They are tuned flat and pick up so many new things in my music that I have never heard before. The highs are extremely accurate and sometimes even a bit in your face but for mixing I found this to be extremely useful. The Mids are extremely present and are very smooth while the Lows are the structure that round out these amazing sounding headphones. Not to heavy on the low end, I would summarize it as being a bit underwhelming for bass heads and on the heavier sides for the flat-liners which makes it a great balance for me personally. When I was active monitoring my vocals on these they sounded so great that I found myself just singing into my mic impromptu for a half an hour hearing the clarity that these provide. I bought these refurbished and they are still as great as if I had bought them new, packaging and all. They don't clamp the head and the noise isolation is pretty fantastic if you buy some good pads with them (I grabbed the Brainwavz Sheepskins) and in this price range you can't go wrong. This is a message for anyone considering buying the M50Xs over these. Audio Technica really nailed it with these. As an audio engineer and music enthusiast you can't go wrong with these. Happy Listening!

6 years of daily use
These finally broke after 6 years of daily use at the gym (bought the little bluetooth dongle) and PC gaming. Very comfortable, can wear them for hours without my ears hurting. Great sound quality as far as I can tell. Possibly the best money I have ever spent given that I used these 6+ hours a day for 6 and half years.

Dope Headphones!
Pretty good quality, actually! I'm a 2-year music producer who just upgraded from the M30X, and I must say, these are pretty nice! They're pretty darn durable, have a slick, modern design and include comfy, padded cushioning on both the headband and earcups, which is perfect for long listening sessions (though the headband is a little stiff at first), and even comes with everything one needs to start enjoying their audio in high-quality bliss (it includes a leather, soft case, one coiled cable, and one straight cable)!Since I'm not a DJ, the swiveling earcup feature isn't one I was all too interested in (though it works great). You will DEFINITELY love them if you're an audiophile like me (that likes headphones that are FLAT and show the true sound of the music itself), with their crisp treble and wide, yet deep, stereo bass (and mono sub-bass).But, do be warned: IF YOU LIKE BASS BOOSTED HEADPHONES, THESE AIN'T IT (CHIEF)! THESE ARE NEUTRAL, FLAT HEADPHONES, MADE FOR THOSE OF US WHO ENJOY MORE QUALITIES THAN JUST THE BASS IN MUSIC! IF THIS DOESN'T SOUND LIKE YOU, LEAVE THIS PRODUCT AT ONCE AND CONTINUE YOUR SEARCH!Otherwise, enjoy! :D

Good headphones
If you need a pair of studio monitor headphones, these are good; I enjoy using them. The detachable cable makes them easier to travel with/store imo - I previously owned a pair of ATH-M30x'es, which died partially because of issues with the non-detachable cable. However, if you need a pair of studio monitor headphones with good sound signature for casual listening as well, I would suggest the ATH-M50x model (their sound profiles are different, notably in the bass frequencies; for this purpose it is worth the upgrade). I would also suggest looking elsewhere if you don't need a pair of studio monitor headphones. The headphones themselves are reasonably well built and slightly heavier than is comfortable, but this is not an issue as long as you don't have large ears and place them carefully as to avoid crimping part of your ear. One can also purchase third party earcups which may help things. The headphones are clearly designed for long listening sessions, so I haven't felt anything more egregious than needing to adjust them once in a while. As a note; these are closed headphones but do not have a tight seal, so if you are in a shared workspace (such as a library in pre-covid times), you will need to keep your volume low.

would buy again and recommend to anyone for mixing - one warning for recording vocals...
I bought these to use for mixing home recordings, as well as practicing electric bass. I am extremely satisfied; I would have no idea that these headphones were refurbished. I believe the sound to be extremely flat and honest (based on visual comparison with my spectro graph tools), the headphones are very comfortable, and was surprised that the gold cord adapter had threads (extra bonus I didn't see mentioned), as well as a locking mechanism connecting the cable to the headphones.I will mention these headphones are not "zero" quiet - I can still hear spoken word in the room while wearing them. I've also noticed that my metronome click was recorded by a very hot, close proximity (@5") condenser mic while recording. I was wearing both ear pieces at the time (ie, I didn't have one ear exposed to listen to the room...this was pure bleed-through the back of the cans). I did have my mix volume medium loud, and this can certainly be mitigated - but be aware that if you are using these for recording you may need to adjust what you're used to. Especially if you're doing vocals, and the performer prefers to have one ear "open".
