I am a believer
I was tired of pushing around my shark steam mop ( the kind that you need to pump back and forth), so I did a lot of searching, reading and youtubing before taking a chance on this Oreck. After having it for almost a year I am quite pleased with it. I wasn't sure it was going to be that different then my old one but it definitely is.Pros: you don't have to pump it. It has adjustable steam setting. It is easy to wind the cord around. It is easy to change out the pads. There is a heat up switch separate than the steam switch. There are many useful tools. It gets very hot. It is not very heavy. It is easy to fill it. You don't have to have it up right to use it. It lasts for a very long time on one tank! Has multiple jets on the floor head that shoot steam.Cons: it can leave some streaking on your floor due to what kind of cleaner you use on your floor but it is only temporary. In order to sanitize you need to stay in the same place for 2 minutes. It really doesn't clean windows or mirrors very well. It actually doesn't do well on water scale build-up. If you use it too heavily in one area it can start to get wet on the floors. It doesnt stand up on its own.I basically use this to clean my floors after I have vacuumed them (vinyl planks). It's amazing how much it picks up! I use it along with a squirt bottle filled with a light soap solution ( dr. Bronner's sal suds). The temporary streaking doesn't bother me. I don't really intend for this to sanitize my floors but rather to do a nice hot mopping. Occasionally I will use this to clean my drains/go around toilets (already doing the floors) and I use the squeegee adapter to go over the dog beds (sans cover, just the foam). I have also used this to clean tatami martial arts mats.Only use distilled water. I wrote that all over mine! I am also very careful not to leave water in it. I like that I can plug it in and let it heat up and then turn on a separate switch for steam to begin. I also bought the microfiber fingered pads which I believe work much better! If you are not careful and stay in one area too long it gets very wet. Just be aware.I really like it. It is worth the cost to me. I have a 3 year old, 2 large dogs and no carpet. It cleans up all the grime left over after a vaccume and is easy to use, clean and store.

Great product only while it worked. poor customer service
I'm 100% satisfied with this product the 4 (that is..."FOUR"...!!!) times I used. When I pulled it out the 5th time (4 months old), green light wouldn't turn on. No steam, whatsoever. I trouble shooted doing everything the manual recommended to no avail. I called oreck customer service and they told me to contact a local oreck service center/store. When I called them, immediately, they said since i bought the device through amazon, warranty is not covered. Ok, so I called amazon to see what they can do. Amazon called oreck service center again and they "swore" it'll be fixed. I took the steam mop to the shop. First thing the guy said is oreck wouldn't pay for this to be fixed and i shouldn't be using it on hard wood floors. Ok, attitudes aside, i told him to give it a try since amazon said it should be covered. Few days later, they called and said i voided the warranty by using vinegar in the machine. Ok, maybe my fault for not reading warranty carefully but i tried everything in the manual first to fix it. the machine was already broken before i even attempted vinegar. Prior to this, i only used water for the machine. Since everything eluded to built up and i've used vinegar plenty of times to flush hot water heaters, i figured why not give it a try. Still, it was broken before I tried! Of course, oreck didn't care. I just read in other reviews that some other people had bad experiences with oreck customer service too and with their mops breaking after only a handful of uses. Luckily, I contacted amazon again and amazon made an exception to take the product back with 20% restocking fee.summarize, decent product while it works but if it breaks, you're on your own unless you got it through AMAZON.

I Got a Defective One and I'm Still Giving Five Stars!!!
I purchased the Oreck because it had less bad reviews than any of the other models listed. Unfortunately, I got one of the lemons that are in the 1 star reviews. I had it for just over a month and abolutely fell in love with it. Then it quit producing steam--what a bummer! I contacted Amazon, and they were willing to take it back despite it being over their 30 day return policy. I opted to contact Oreck as I figured going through Amazon would be the round-about way. Oreck was nothing but pleasant and accomodating. They promptly sent out a UPS shipping label. I sent the defective model out and didn't expect to see a replacement for at least a month. It was literally less than 2 weeks when I received a totally new one. What a pleasant surprise! I assumed they would just repair my old one! A word of advice for all Oreck users and potential buyers: Oreck customer service asked if I used distilled water in it. I hadn't. Nowhere in their instructions does it say to use distilled water (I checked). You can be certain that I now use distilled water in my new one! And I wish they would update their instructions and add that little tidbit. This shouldn't be a deal breaker for anyone because distilled water is so cheap and unless you have a huge house with lots of tile, you shouldn't need more than a cup or two of water each time you use it. It is also is much easier to fill the receptacle with a gallon jug of water rather than holding it under your faucet. Now, the good. My God, I don't know how I lived without this thing!!! We have quite a bit of tile in our home. Alot of the grout hadn't been sealed and I have spent hours with a toothbrush and harmful chemicals trying to scrub grout lines clean. And still, the dirt & grime would not budge. The first time I used the Oreck, I thought "how could this thing possibly clean my tile?" Well, I found out in a big hurry when all the dirt I had tried to scrub out with a toothbrush was now caked on the bottom of my cleaning pad! I kid you not, the pad looked like it was caked with mud. Every time I used the Oreck, my grout lines looked better and better. My grout lines are now clean and bright!!! And this is just from steam cleaning. I have yet to use the grout brush attachments. I have tried the Oreck on my windows, tub, and oven with spectacular results. I don't have a self-cleaning oven and it is old with baked on crust. My oven is looking better and better every time a clean it with the Oreck.I am hoping this Steam-It will last me. I'm diligent about using distilled water, thoroughly draining after use, and periodically cleaning the nozzle as directed. If it doesn't last, I know I can return it within one year's time with basically no hassle. I WILL NOT be without it! With three dogs, I know my floors are as clean and sanitized as possible with no harmful chemicals on their paws (or our bare feet). I wish I had an Oreck when my children were toddlers crawling around on the floors. Who knows what I unknowingly exposed them to with cleaning chemicals.BOTTOM LINE: This is a wonderful product, it will keep your floors pristine without exposing your family and canines/felines to harmful chemicals. The fact that it has clips so you can use your own towels and rags instead of buying specialty microcloths is nice. Customer service was outstanding. I am hoping this model will last. And even if it dies after 1 year and 1 day, I will DEFINITELY buy another one.
