TacxTrainer Tyre - 26 x 1.25 Inches

I bought this tire 3 years ago. Yes, I know this is a long time to do a review, but I normally don't do too many reviews but after 13, 960 miles in the past 3 years on my wahoo trainer (and many tire tubes); I felt compelled to review. These tires are made to last, period. Perfect for a trainer to withstand heavy use and heat. I have since ordered another tire, in the interim I used a "regular" gator skin tire until the new one arrives. I already have rubber caked on trainer making it more proof that the TacX trainer tyre is a must for anyone who uses their bike on a trainer.

I've waited to write this review as I see no sense in reviewing products as soon as, or shortly after, you get them. In this case I was skeptical. I saw other negative reviews, but I needed an indoor trainer tire and knew Tacx made good trainers. Until I put this tire on I was destroying my good quality road tires at a rate of 1 every 150 trainer miles. Okay, so they weren't new tires, but they were good tires that had tread left, but maybe some small cuts etc. Regular tires heated up and delaminated far to fast, they also were noisier and tended to slip more easily I put this Tacx tire on and it was an immediate change for the better. Quieter, no slip - simply much better performance. So I finally wore it out, but that was after 2700 + miles. I never get that much life out of more expensive tires on the road so I'm happy with that number and am putting on my second tire tonight. No, it doesn't mount as easy as a nice supple high quality road tire, but who cares, that's not a problem when I'm in the comfort of my home shop. This is a great performing indoor trainer tire. I'm surprised anyone would think otherwise.

I used to use my old worn out tires on the I-Magic and wear them into oblivion to get everything but the oink out of them. However, they would slip and get bald spots and ride unevenly pretty fast and it made riding on the trainer less than stellar.I figured I would give the Tacx tire a chance, and it is much much better than the old tire discards. It is really grippy and yet durable, doesn't run hot, gives excellent traction and is more quiet. It rides with a lower frequency hum and gives a more 'road-like' feel because it's not slipping at all.I can't recommend the I-Magic (Fortius or the old one) from Tacx strongly enough, and this tire is a good one for those VR trainers.UPDATE 8/10/11I've done many many miles on the trainer, and the tire just failed tonight. I think this is a lot of miles for the one tire, and shows it is as good as I espected or better. The current Amazon price of just over $30 is much better than the price I paid from Niagara cycle works when I got the first one. Definitely a great tire for indoor use on the trainer!

I have a trainer I use indoors when the weather is too cold or wet. In the past, I left my existing street tire on the bike. The street tire was loud, marked the wheel on the trainer, and would slip if the trainer was not real tight on the tire. I thought it time to get a trainer tire for the winter.From reading the reviews, this tire seemed to be a good tire for the price. It fits my rim just fine and I am pleased with how quiet the tire is. Not to say it is whisper quiet, but it is so much better than the street tire.I'm looking forward to using my bike now on the trainer. As I only have 10 hours on the tire, we'll see how long it lasts. But I expect it to take me to March.Beg-Int bicyclistJim

This product is a must for your regular bike if it's on an indoor trainer. It's too bad that I waited to buy this tire until my old one failed -- it's so much better -- smooth and grippy -- that it's changed my attitude towards being on the indoor trainer. It was a little tough to mount, but not a real problem.

Purchased Jan 2019. It was exclusively used on a Kickr Snap. I don’t know the exact amount of miles or hours I put on the tire but it has begun to dry out and crack. I would estimate at the top end I did three one hour rides a month. Anyway, as of finishing a ride this morning, 04/21, it separated at the seem creating a bulge. This also caused the tire to go flat.Overall the tire was very smooth and quiet. I got a year out of it and it cost less than a decent road worthy tire.I would most likely order this again but definitely expected a little bit more durability.The time I did get out of was worth the money and smooth and quiet ride.

When I first got this yesterday, I was a little reluctant to put this tire on. After reading the reviews that talked about how hard it was to put on the rim. However, I didn’t have any trouble putting it in. The initial reason I bought this was, I was using a regular tire for my trainer. The regular tire slipped so much, I was ready to send my trainer back. Today was the first time I used this tire with my trainer, I was amazed at how well this tire did with my trainer. There was absolutely no tire slippages, even at the max inclines. I am so happy I bought this trainer tire. I highly recommend it to anyone!!!!

Not much to say except this is a good product/works as advertised. I use it on my second road bike for Zwift, and it has been flawless. It has logged over 3K miles with little wear (I use a Tac Neo-X). The initial set-up was a bit temperamental, but after laying the tire and wheel flat on the ground it was easy to fold the tube into the tire and attach it around the wheel.
