This case works very well in protecting my surface. I have used it in many military settings and it has done a great job! rugged and protects well is why I got it and it does just that. It does add a decent amount of size and prevents the back stand from working on the actual laptop. For me the protection was worth it. Design looks great and I love the grip on the back as well as the keyboard holder at the top right. Pen holder keeps the surface pen on just fine and all the ports are still accessible.Issues other reviews have brought up:The stand is noisy when you open it: if you apply a little pressure as you open it it is not as loud and I do not find it to be a problem in class and in meetings. Its more a clicking sound, but everyone understands you need the stand to use the laptop so it never has been brought up.The screen cracks when you take the case off: I have only taken the case off two times to get the serial number off the back of my surface and it has not cracked my screen and not too much pressure was required to get the case off. I could not see how you could break the screen unless you were pressing directly on the touch interface. you can see a little pressure is applied to the screen but nothing much.Overall, the case is fantastic and has held up well. I would recommend it!

Absolutely a TOP NOTCH case all around! I have read some of the other reviews and the truth is no matter how hard some try - ya can't make everyone happy. Bottom line the Urban Armor Gear Case is a rugged, solid case that provides good protection for the Surface Pro 4 Tablet. The Pros - Fits Great - it isn't as hard to slide the SP4 into the case as some would have you believe, and when its time to remove it, just use pressure on the correct places and it POPs right out. There is no danger to damaging the Gorilla Glass on the SP4 unless you are using a screwdriver or pocket knife. ***** Pro cont. - The Pen holder is excellent and fits the SP4 Pen snugly into place. Little chance of losing it and it actually holds onto the pen if you place it into a carrying bag etc. Pro cont. - The upper right TypeCover elastic band is OK - its a nice thought and will do it's job, but as others have said - it will eventually break. The CONS - Booo! The downside for SP4 i7 users is the ventilation - While mine has yet to overheat - I can see that on a warm day or in elevated temps, the case itself and the poor ventilation will most likely lead to possible overheating. In which case - the case will come right off. The CONS cont. - The kickstand blows! I mean really - for this price I would expect something a little more stable, quite and overall a much more professional job.Overall - Its a great case and will provide a much needed layer of protection for your device. Its like an slightly downgraded Otterbox for the SP4.

IMHO: The best surface pro case
I bought this case over others due to its durability and coverage. A majority of the case is made of a dense rubber that tightly covers all sides except the glass side and thick enough to provide significant protection while also thin enough to not make it inconvenient. The small elastic band used to hold the keyboard attachment does seem like the weakest part of the case since its made with a thin elastic band that will likely stretch out over the years but even if it breaks off your device is still protected. There were several complaints about the metal stand being too noisy but i think those people are being overly critical. The stand produces a notice click into place when you open it but it honestly ist that loud unless you are being very forceful and even then it only make noise when you open and close it. The stand has a slight wiggle to it but it does its job very well, With multiple angles to adjust it to finding the perfect angle is convenient and reliable. The case also has a sturdy pen holder for those who use it.Pros: Durable, complete coverage, pen holder, lightweight, reliable standCons: stand has slight wiggle (minor), keyboard sling may break after long term use (minor)

It feels sturdy in the hand The unit seems to offer protection all the way around, even if I place my surface face down. I was worried it might be too thick to allow the keyboard to flip around, but it seems to be a 'just right' fit and does't effect day to day usage. Of note: The pen storage has been moved to the top of the case near the camera. it sits in it's own rubberized clip.Of note: If you have a screen protector, you may run into the same issue as I did with mine, where the contour of the case around the sides of the surface lifts up the screen protector slightly. To fix this, take a sharp razor blade and carefully trim the flash/burr on the rubber where the case contacts the computer. I had to go a little further and cut a *very small* bevel. Problem solvedI really like this case. It's a little heavy, but not uncomfortably so. There's enough material there to justify the weight.I would've loved to give it a 5 star review, but it has a couple issues.First is the screen protector issue I mentioned aboveSecond being that the top of the case near the camera is a tad flimsy. I would've liked to see a bit more support there as the case bends and peels out of the way if I pick up my computer from the top.Third is while there is a very nice cast aluminum(?) stand, there's a plastic ratcheting mechanism to hold the foot at pre-defined angles. I would've liked to see an infinitely adjustable system like what the surface had originally. Or at least a ratchet made from something other than cheap feeling/sounding plastic. it really distracts from the quality of an otherwise very nice caseThe surface uses a hybrid cooler. It will dissipate heat both passively through the body of the unit, and actively via a traditional heatsink/fan. I saw some other reviewers voicing concerns about the case acting as an insulator and causing some thermal concerns with the unit, but I haven't experienced any issues myself. Chipset temperatures are within a normal range and the fan doesn't seem to be working any harder
