Ninja BL451 Nutri Pro, 12.9 x 7.9 x 14.8 inches, Silver

This is by far one of the best Christmas gifts ever! It's so easy to grab a healthy drink with fruits and veggies...skip the junk and grab one of these...OK sick of only healthy drinks, well it also made the best margarita in a flash! We went for the BL451 model that came with 3 cup sizes and ordered an extra midsize cup off the website. It's hard to find which items fit your size but finally did. The difference between this and the auto IQ which was at least $30 more, was that this one you pulse it yourself, meaning it only runs when you press down on the cup. Given that it doesn't take long at all and we pulse it multiple times to let things settle, didn't feel the need to walk away and have the auto, especially since we weren't sure we'd use this product. This replaced a giant Monteil Williams version that worked well but took up so much space and we only used the pulse setting on it anyway. This is a great size that easily fits on the counter and so easy to use. We are looking to buy a second blade so we can be making several without having to rinse and swap it out, although all parts are easy to clean and dishwasher safe. So much easier to make an appropriate amount as well as with the larger MW one we always made too much and it ended up with so much foam...not this one. Love the different cup sizes and ready to go lids too. Great product!! Highly recommend it!

This is the greatest gadget I've ever owned! It is unbelievably fast and grinds super fine, but will chop coarsely if you give it very short bursts. My favorite breakfast is an apple, orange and banana. I used to spend 40 minutes chopping them into small bits and then mixing the whole mess thoroughly. Now it takes me 8-10 minutes to peel the orange, peel the banana and core the apple, toss into the Ninja and process 5 maybe 6 bursts less than 1 second at a time and I eat!Cleanup is a breeze -- a few seconds under running water. Same with the container. And for heavens sake, don't put the blade assembly in the dishwasher!That being said, there is a significant design flaw that you must be aware of. This is a very powerful machine -- 1.2 horsepower to be exact. Unfortunately, the drive for the blade assembly is applied in a direction that tends to unscrew the blade assembly from the container, causing it to leak into the drive bay. Very messy, hard to clean and no, you can't dunk the base to clean it! You can't spray it with anything either. Paper towel and patience, then a damp towel will do the trick.So, a word to the wise -- screw the blade assembly onto the containers VERY TIGHT, especially if you are concocting something that requires a long burst of processing.

Works better than my big Vitamix for blending up small smoothies. Pulse the smoothie for best results. So easy too because you can add the black screw on to-go lid to the cup after you're done blending your drink. I ordered a 2nd large blending cup and black lid on the Ninja website ($28) Pricy, but I wanted 2 large cups for me and my husband. Just blend, add black top and a big smoothie straw and your ready to go. Rinse the blade immediately after use and its super easy to maintain. Great for students who need protein drinks, and people who want convenience, quality and ease of clean up. Caution: when assembling the blade assembly to the cup, be extremely vigilant in making sure that the blade assembly is on STRAIGHT and EVEN or you will make a big mess and smoothie will dribble out everywhere! GRRR.. There is a learning curve here, but certainly not something that a level headed person can't figure out. (It took me 3 times,lol)

I purchase the Nutri Ninja for my husband last Christmas because of our love of smoothies and disdain for the inconvenience of having to lug out the full size blender every time we wanted one. Now that we've had this for a year I can say that nothing beats the convenience factor of the Nutri Ninja. We use it at least five days a week and it still does as good a job as it did when we first received it last year. The base is light and compact so it can be easily brought out and tucked away with each use, or just left on the counter if you have the space. Overall we are happy with the product, giving it four stars. However, there are a few things about the product that would bring it to five stars, in my opinion.First, the cleaning factor. We use protein powder plus any number of fruits and greens in our smoothies so there are usually teeny weeny bits of produce that you just can't suck out of the bottom of the blending cup. Also, the grooves at the top of the cup for the lid to screw on are always full of smoothie bits after blending. This means that immediate rinsing or cleaning is essential or you risk having a difficult time trying to chip away those small bits. Additionally, the raised lines inside the cup (I don't know how else to describe them) add to the difficulty of cleaning. Maybe they have an essential purpose that I'd appreciate if I knew what it was, but for us those lines just add to the aggravation of cleaning these cups. Protein powder has a tendency of building up next to those lines and can be a challenge to remove completely. There are several solutions we've found to the cleaning challenge: clean or rinse immediately, use a dish brush, and soak if necessary. Honestly, though, these seem like design flaws that could be easily changed and clean up would be just as breezy as making the smoothies.The next issue might just be my own, but there have been many times where I screw on the lid as tight as I can (or thought I did) and yet when I start blending smoothie comes spewing out of the sides of the cup and into the base. I've learned my lesson and always always always screw the lid on TIGHT, then tighten it again just to be sure I actually put it on as tight as I could (seriously, I do this every time I make a smoothie). Cleaning the base is a pain in the butt when this happens. Since I'm well-experienced using the Nutri Ninja and I know to do this, yet it still happens, I have a feeling that sometimes when trying to put the cup on the base the lid is slightly loosened (sometimes you have to jiggle it for the lid to line up with the blender piece on the base), but maybe it really is just me. Either way, I hope that recommending to screw it on tight and then make sure again it's tight will come in handy for someone else who is new to the Nutri Ninja.Overall we are pleased with the Nutri Ninja as it has added to the health of our family since we can quickly make smoothies when we might otherwise skip a meal (especially breakfast since we are NOT morning people!) and also add produce to our smoothies that we would likely go without (leafy greens are good but can be boring to eat everyday!).
