Great Purchase. USB 3.0 + Ethernet
I was looking for a solution to having a wired connection available to my MBA without losing out on ports. I couldn't use the TB adapter since I was reserving that for a monitor connection.First impressions:Lightweight and it has a long enough USB cord that I don't feel like I'll ever strain the terminals which is great! To use the Ethernet port you can use the Cd they provide but they also have it available on their website (I don't have a CD drive and I prefer to download drivers anyway). It was a very easy installation and they provide easy to follow instructions in the same driver download.Using it:Ethernet works great! I'm getting the speed I expected based on my service. The hubs male USB terminal fits in the MBAs USB port smoothly and without any unnecessary friction.USB ports work great too, however they are a bit snug so there is resistance which may cause some wear on the USB terminals, however I am using the ports for things I won't be disconnecting from the hub (I.e Bluetooth receiver for mouse and keyboard, USB speakers, and a cable to charge my phone). So for me this isn't as big of an issue as it may be for someone else. One issue that does come up is that the Bluetooth receiver may have to be unplugged/plugged back in if you connect the hub to the laptop. However I do not think this is not a hub issue but rather the way the receivers work.Overall:Great device to keep at home for instant wired connection without sacrificing USB ports. Pair this with CableMatters TB to DVI/HDMI/VGA adapter and you have yourself the functionality of a dock/port replicator at a fraction of the price. (For external HDDs I would alway just connect directly to computer though but I'm sure it's work fine in the hub)Will update in 6 months unless an issue comes up.

Great laptop accessory.
This is a really nifty item. It has 3 USB 3.0 ports and a 1 Gbps RJ-45 ethernet port. It comes in handy for my ASUS T100 Transformer, since it only has 1 USB 3.0 port and no ethernet port. I use ethernet sometimes when I am setting up a customers new router, because they usually don't like being set up on WiFi. The speed is great and is comparable to my desktop with integrated Dual Gigabit ethernet. With this, I get just under 2 MBps and my desktop gets just over 2 MBps. It comes with a little CD to install the drivers, so if you have a netbook without a CD drive, you will need to use a PC that does to extract the files to a thumb drive, if you want to use the ethernet port. The USB ports work OTB. The specifications for USB 3.0 allow more power to the hub than 2.0, so using all three ports at the same time is not an issue. Just watch out though, for using all three at the same time, depending on what you have plugged it, it will kill your battery faster than normal if you are using this on a laptop. Over all I am really satisfied with this purchase, and would recommend this product. It is produced by Cable Matters, which I own a lot of their products, and all have been excellent.

Works as intended... for 6 months
I currently use this adapter with my laptop, and it's been fairly useful and without issues until just recently. The Ethernet port seems not to work anymore. I've tested it with various other cables and computers, and the USB 3.0 ports all work, just not the Ethernet. For 6 months of use, it's not terrible, but I'd hoped for a better product that I'd be able to use for a year or two. At the very least, the USB 3.0 ports allow for some expansion, but I'll update this review if that breaks as well.

USB works great, RJ45 not so much...
I'm running into issues with it working on my Surface Pro 3 w/ Win10. I have downloaded the most recent driver (at least the most current one I could find) and the USB hub portion works fine. When I turn off my WIFI and plug the adapter straight into my router it fails to recognize an active network adapter. It still shows up in my device list however in my network settings it doesn't populate at all as an optional network adapter. Please help as I've like all of my other Cable Matters products and don't want this to be the first let-down.

Great Hub & Ethernet adapter! Purchased Mutliple Now!
This is a great easy to use hub and ethernet adapter. I purchased these dominantly to use with Microsoft Surface and other Windows based tablets. I provide IT support for a decent sized university and there are a lot of Windows based tablets in use. The official Microsoft Surface ethernet adapter works very well, but once you plug it in the only USB connection is occupied. Having a few USB ports in addition to a network adapter is exceptional for most of our users. The hub/network adapter is recognized within moments of being connect to Windows 8 / 8.1 / 10 systems and required no additional drivers. This device just straight up works! We have purchased a decent quantity since and I regularly recommend it to folks that want an Ethernet connection for their Windows netbook or tablet and don't want a full dock or just need an adapter for traveling.

It's pretty small so that is a nice feature
Works as advertised, It's a USB hub and works right out of the box. It's pretty small so that is a nice feature. Its always annoying to have a bulky item just hanging off the side of you laptop no matter how handy the device is. Does what it's supposed to do, it's nice and thin, low profile, but the cable is fairly stiff and thick, does not bend very well. On the positive side I guess that makes the cable is fairly durable and protected. It would be nice if the cable could be tucked away more easily for greater portability. It works great for adding on multiple ports to use with mouses and USB drive. It might not have enough of a power charge to be the most optimal choice when charging phones and other devices. I used this for a USB memory stick and also mouse so i haven't run into any issues yet. The problem is you cannot add a power adapter to this model if you need to go with high draw devices. It would be nice if the standard model has a port to plug in a power adapter since it looks like it's a standard USB mini and i have those lying around already.
