It wasn't long before he added other practical items to the company's portfolio. By the 1960s, the company began to concentrate on car-related products, including its first roof rack. The Thulin family sold Thule to the publicly listed company Eldon in 1979, and it has continued to grow both organically and through acquisitions ever since. The Thule Group is a world leader in providing transport solutions for an active life.

Works great with the Lexus OEM roof rails. Perfect for 1 person to load and unload! Definetly recommend this kayak assist system
Mounted this Thule 887 Slipstream to our Lexus OEM roof rails (Very similar to the Thule AeroBlade). Fits perfect! Below is a pic of our Hobie Outback mounted and strapped down. So far no issues and it definitely makes loading and unloading the kayak with one person very easy! My only recommendation is to have a piece of carpet handy so you can place the kayak on as you load and unload it. The Lexus in the picture is a 2015 NX200T F Sport.

Solved the problem
I was desperately in need of a roof rack for my kayak that enabled me to load and off load without any assistance onto my 2012 Toyota Highlander. Being 5'3" you have to get resourceful when it comes to loading your kayak. This did fit the bill to some extent, however you need to measure how you adjust the factory bars on your type of vehicle prior to installing this carrier. The new crossover SUV's no longer have the flat back but have been redesigned with more of a contoured rear door area with an added cowling. When installing the rack you have to be able to clear that cowling or you may as well forget about this working for you. When you pull out the rear extension bar it only extends about 20" which in some cases may not clear the cowling and avoid damage to your vehicle. Also, the bar is very hard to slid in and out. I am no weakling and I struggle with it. I did grease it up a bit and it helps but it would have been better had they designed it to slide easier. With a little brute force and some creative maneuvering I have enjoyed solo kayaking again.

Awesome Kayak Mount
Ok so this is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Perfect for a single person loading and unloading a kayak. Went together easy, is well made, feel solid, mounts on factory cross bars perfectly, and slides front to back as advertised, and YES you need to use a little force....you don;t want it sloppy. I am totally ahppy and would recommend this. I have a 2014 Santa Fe Sport with Factory Cross Rails, and a 12" Tandem Perception Sport Kayak. Thule makes good stuff with a great warranty!!

Pretty good kayak rack.
This kayak rack works pretty good. It was easy to assemble. The rack does not slide very easily, however - I have to really pull on it to get it to move and I need a step stool to get enough leverage to get it to move. Ironically, it moves better with the kayak on it, so that is good. One other slightly annoying thing, is the roller element can rattle, as it moves from side to side. Other than those relatively minor issues, I am pleased with this rack and hope to get a lot of use out of it this summer.

Thule has amazing products. I am very happy with this carrier
Thule has amazing products. I am very happy with this carrier. It makes loading and unloading my kayak effortless. I was not happy with the shipping condition this product arrived in. I was missing 2 parts and the unit itself had scratches and damage. I am very dissatisfied with the quality of packaging of this product before shipping.

Perfect solution and easy loading
I love this rack. I just got a 16.5 ft kayak weighing 50 pounds and was looking for a way to get it onto the roof of my Honda van by myself. I can carry my kayak on my shoulder but can't lift it over my head. This rack is the perfect solution and makes it very easy to get on and off by myself. I rest the stern on an old piece of carpet (to keep it from getting scratches) and lift the bow onto the roller on the rack. Then it's easy to just push it on the rollers and slide it over the rear felt pads. Getting it off is just as easy. For reference, I am a 5'10" male senior in average condition. One thing - sliding the rack forward is at about my reach limit so a shorter person with a van or large SUV might have a little difficulty, but I'm sure a step stool would help.

Great concept, could use some more work
The craftsmanship is typical of other Thule products and is put together well. This is a great concept for larger vehicles - I have a large full size SUV and the thought of lifting an 80 lb kayak up the the roof which I can barely reach wasn't all that appealing. I would have liked the slide to go further so I could have the kayak centered over the vehicle once loaded as opposed to shifted towards the back - probably not a problem for smaller vehicles however.

Fantastic roof carrier
As I got older I found it more and more difficult to bench-press my kayak up to my J style carriers. With this carrier system I can lift one end onto the rear roller and then lift and push the back end of the kayak until it is on the roof. I mounted the unit on a trailblazer with rectangular shaped cross bars. It was easy to position the unit so that the rear rollers slid far enaugh to the back to prevent scratching the vehicle when loading and then the unit slid forward to a perfect carrying position. Loading is easy, transporting is safe and quiet with less drag on the vehicle than with the J bars. This unit doesn't create very much noise when empty and sits low enaugh on the roof to allow entry to most parking garages. Overall, I concider this a great unit and wished that I had purchased one years ago/
