Quality saw for a great price
Top quality saw. Really well made and simple to use. I built a timber framed garage extension over the summer and after a brush down the saw still looked like new and hadn't lost any of its sharpness. it is light enough to lift and move around easily. It won't quite cut a 6" x 2" timber (you'd need a larger cross-cut saw) but anything smaller is a piece of cake. The guides and mitre facility are great. It cuts pretty true to 90 and 45 degrees. It can be adjusted to get it spot on. I didn't need a laser guide as the markings on the saw were good enough. The saw blade and dust bag do the job of collecting the dust pretty well (catches 90% of the saw dust) and is easily emptied - no saw will catch 100%, and some only 50%.I think that Makita is as good as any other top brand and this saw certainly does everything you ask of it with no fuss. Highly recommended. 10/10.

far better than i expected for what is a relatively budget ...
orderd this on my wifes amazon account ; laminate flooring, skirting boards plus general woodworking jobs to do before christmas arrives! what a superb bit of kit, i am only diyer so did not wish to spend massive dollar on a occassionally used piece of equipment.i set myself a budget of under 200 pounds , read lots of customer reviews on various different manufacters models and eventually plumbed for this makita. i already have a few other makita power tools it,s always been a quality brand in my books.arrived within a few days ,unboxed it, a bit of setting up, slight calibration setting reqiured 20minutes ready to rocka serious saw this it,s no mickeymouse lightweight afair, far better than i expected for what is a relatively budget price,.the build quality is really very good, it would do a proffessional user proud am sure.or certainley a serious diyer , i also bought a mitre saw stand to go with it,paired up it,s the bizz. as you can probably assertain, it is without question one of the best bits of kit iv,e bought in awhile.build quality would suggest it,s gonna be with me for a good duration of time.Had a few days off work got most of jobs done, this saw was brilliant, smooth precision cuts everytime .should of bought this long ago saved me no end of time and wasted wood, can,t beat having propertools for the job, this is very much one of them.made the job a pleasure, looking for some more household projects to give me an excuse to use it more.to summarise then excellent quality/performance per pound 5 star just can,t fault it for my diy requirements.

Lady DIYers; Perfect date with a capable fella!.
Choice; Pay some bloke to cut and fit skirting boards in 3 rooms whilst I run around after him, or save a pile of money and tea by buying and using a machine. Best decision I made was to buy this Makita, saved a bomb and learned new tricks with a PERFECT working partner!, accurately cuts through timber like butter, not as noisy as I was expecting, quiet enough not to annoy neighbours or drown out my swearing which I find comforting and supportive, not a huge heavy thing, quite light and easy to move around. This is a great machine for cutting wood and work time, easy to set up, easy to use. Beautiful Makita!.First job; I was set on using this on the floor, but because I would be working on long lengths of skirting I first had to make supports, 3 low support tables, this meant cutting 12 7mm high legs, these were cut with the Makita, every little leg exactly the same height precisely cut within a few minutes, with a hand saw this would have taken me forever and used up all my swear words!. Handsome, sexy Makita Mitre saw.

this works like a dream, beautiful home machine
brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. get the message? it comes with a saw blade that looks as if it could eat a tank, but, in practiseit cuts a very fine cut, smooth as a polished table, great. this model is so well made, i was amazed they could build it for this moneyit is all metal. just be aware that it cuts about 5" width there abouts, anythig wider, you will have to turn it over. i did that, and you could not telli did that, nice. read the paperwork first, just to be sure about taking out the bolt at the back, and fitting the quick release 4 fingered knobso to be able to use the angle facility. go for it, you will not be sorry.psbeen active for a few days with this now, and can confirm, its a real gem, and very accurate.

Not the best and would not advise others to buy as a precision mitre saw.
I have had the Makita MLS100 240 V 255 mm Electric Saw for quite a while and no matter what, it will not cut true, the fence to blade even when adjusting is never right. The only way to get this right is to rig something to the fence and then level everything up. This should have been done by makita before sending this product out. I should not have to re-engineer their equipment to work as it should. Blade cuts really well so would be great as a chop saw but not if your looking for accuracy out of the box with a basic set-up procedure.

Works well
I am no expert but it works well... It was not set up to cut perfectly at 90 degrees so in this respect a factory setup would make the saw more usable straight out of the box.

beware returning items if not adequate
the order did not look like the description and far less sturdy - i had no choice but to pay min £30 to send back as no label to scan only ore printed postage labels and now i'm told as i "accidentally ordered " i can't even claim the postage back ! would have been far better gong to a shop to actually see the product

Good quality saw for a decent price.
Good little saw. I am a joiner and own a Festool chop saw which I have at the shop. I needed a small saw to do work at home. The Festool is somewhat bigger and heavier. I bought this saw so I didn't have to cart the Festool back and forth from the shop. It is perfect for the jobs I have to do at home skirting, architrave etc. It is lighter and sufficient for my needs. All in all its a solid little saw and the cutting capacity is sufficient for my needs. This is a good quality tool that should last many years. I highly recommend this saw over all the cheap saws on the market.
