Takes the hard work out.
This is great, we needed to sand down a 200 yr old front door , with numerous layers of paint. This made it so easy and did a good job of it.The results, after putting on the new paint. The door looks brand new.The sander was quiet , no effort to use and got round those awkward bits, which with sand paper is a nightmare.cut the sanding time down to a minimum.Great piece of kit.

Great little sander
The media could not be loaded. This sander is compact and easy to use. It worked a treat to up cycle my Victorian chairs. Only down side is the dust collection bag detaches easily. But still less dust than a normal sander.

Brilliant Sander
Works really well, I bought it on offer, and I would highly recommend. Used to have a square orbital sander, but this is far better, easy to fix new sanding sheets and works brilliantly. A MUST HAVE for the Makita Tool KIT

Nice product to add to the Makita LXT collection.
Went to use my old Bosch 240v mains 1/3 sheet sander, but found that I'd forgotten that it's really noisy and the hand vibrations were unacceptable. So, time to add to the Makita 18v cordless LXT tools in my kit. This compact 125mm circular orbital sander is more capable that expected, reasonably quiet and with much better vibration suppression. Ii needed it to take the hand sanding effort out of refurbishing our outside teak dining table and six chairs now that Summer has almost arrived. Tackled the jobs very easily and with comfort. Light weight and size belied its performance which was more than acceptable and helped me finish the task in a fraction of the expected time. Sanding sheeet lasted well and the 18v battery consumption was more than acceptable. Very pleased overall.

Wish I bought one earlier
Put off buying this for sometime as I felt it was abit of a luxury tool. I had a corded Black and Decker detail/orbital sander (BnD) that was on longterm loan from a friend, which kind off worked and there's nothing wrong with abit of handsanding.Anyway, I eventually cracked and bought this as a birthday present to myself and from first use wished I had cracked earlier.Firstly no more wires, an obvious thing but what a difference! Also the vibration and noise are so much less compared to the BnD. You could use it without ear protection for a short period (not that I'd recommend doing this), where as after a few seconds with the BnD your ears would start to bleed. The passive dust collection is also pretty good, I did 3D print a vacuum hose adaptor for when sanding in the home or for sanding MDF/paints. The battery lasts on full power longer than it takes to charge a spare battery so constant sanding is possible with two batteries (mine are 3ah).It is worth noting this is for light-ish sanding as it hasn't got the power of a corded (though more than the BnD), if there's a lot of material to remove you'd do better with a belt sander and/or power planer. All and all it's a great bit of kit and if you've got a reasonable amount of sanding coming up it's definitely worth the money.

Excellent sander
What an excellent sander. I'm glad I didn't listen to say of the poor reviews. Being a tradesman I have a few of the Makita battery tools, which I have found them all to be of good quality and if looked after they last . I bought this for a cabinet I'm making. I had borrowed a 240v 6" industrial strength one to start with, but decided to get the Makita 18v one . It's obviously not as powerful, but it was still impressive and had all the power I needed. I used it with 4 and 5 ah batteries which lasted a decent enough time. Definitely worth buying if you own other Makita equipment and have the batteri and charger.
