Don't replace the pump without replacing the seal
The seal turns to dust, eats the motor shaft, and causes it to leak into the motor and destroy the bearing. This is why it gets loud and if you don't replace the seal it will happen to the new pump too. LG doesn't sell the seal but you can find an aftermarket one by searching 4036DD4002A (double check thats the one your dishwasher uses I have a LDF6920ST).

Better than a new dishwasher
The new motor fixed my loud dishwasher problem. Installation was straightforward. Cost was about 20% of a new dishwasher so it was expensive but better than buying a new unit.

Lasted 2 months before bearings went out / noise returned
Lasted about two months before the same noise issue came back, troubleshooted several other parts assuming it was not the motor, not worth another repair so buying a new non-lg dishwasher.

Lasted 12 years. It's pretty loud now...lol
12 years ago, my new LG dishwasher broke down after only a few months. Instead of calling a repairman, I watched a youtube video which explained how to change the dishwasher pump motor. This is the best $80 I ever spent. Not a simple install. But, if you're patient you can get it done. The pump motor has lasted 12 years (and counting). My dishwasher has been very loud for many years now...lol. But, it still runs and cleans well. I never expected the replacement pump motor to last this long!I should probably buy a new (quiet) dishwasher from another manufacturer...lol. It sounds like the Daytona 500 whenever my dishwasher is running...lol

Works great, but the real test is over time.
Easy to replace and worked just fine. The issue might be the seal in the sump not the motor. The seal is part of sump assembly and therefore expensive to replace. I carefully cleaned it and replaced the O-ring that applies pressure on the motor shaft. I coated both the shaft and rubber seal with silicone grease to ease assembly and hopefully lubricate the shaft and seal. If water leaks through the seal the motor won't last to long. The previous motor failed because of water leaking through the seal. One should consider replacing the whole sump and pump assembly for a long term fix, but that is much more expensive. At this point one might want to consider a new dishwasher depending on the condition of the rest of the dishwasher. I was looking for a short term fix and hoped it would last over time.

Lasted 6 months, had to get another.
Ran quiet for a couple of months. Then got loud, then only started cleaning bottom rack. After 6 months basically burnt. Got a refurbished one now, let’s see how long it lasts.

Good products great delivery and pricing!
This is a little bit of a project I should have to completely pull the dishwasher out remove the interior parts and disassemble. Make sure you change the seal which means you have to buy the entire sump tub. Dishwasher runs better than ever for the last few months since this has been installed.

Genuine replacement part
Perfect fit. Genuine LG part. Pay attention to the seal that caused the motor to burn out or start making a bad noise. There’s a tension spring on the top side of the seal. Clean it well and add silicone grease. It seems this part will eventually go out from occasional dripping. Mine lasted 5 years. While you have the washer out clean the level reservoir. That’ll be the next to malfunction.
