Le Mans: The Official History 1923-29: The Official History of the World's Greatest Motor Race

Really well written with superb choice of images. The layout is the only bad thing about the book, with frequent splashes of white text on dark blue backgrounds. The crossheads are bizarre, and appear to have been chosen at great speed by a teenager who has read too many comics. Apart from that, it is very hard not to recommend this entire series as a reference work. Can we have something similar on Bugatti racing, only without the blue headers and white on blue text? Epic book.

Yet another in an enjoyable series. For the subject time frame the research must have been especially painstaking. From Stateside I knew of the Bentley Boys but did not know of Chrysler's participation. The race even then was as much an invitation for automotive innovation as it arguably is now. I look forward to the expected installments for the Thirties and "Audies".

These volumes build into the complete history of the race. Going on Mastermind with the race as your specialist subject? Buy and memorise the contents of these books and you'll be a champion!

At last a definitive account of the early LE MANS and more ! Can't wait for the 1930's volume . Please Quentin don't let me wait too long to complete this superb anthology.

A quality read on this iconic race and a great selection of photographs of the famous and not so famous entrants and their cars.

Without doubt the most informative & interesting book on the early years of lemans indeed the whole series of books to date is peerless
