Perfect OEM style Sensor, for my 2006 Ford Focus

The temperature gauge in my 2006 Focus started to read erratically. No codes or check engine lights. After some research, it appeared the cylinder head temperature sensor could be the issue. The part arrived in less than 48 hours. Watched a couple of videos on installation. I was very careful disconnecting the yellow plastic connector from my old sensor. You will need a deep 20mm deep socket. The inside barrel has to be long enough for the black sensor part to fit inside. I didn't have one that worked. However i discovered that a 3/4 SAE would also fit and I had a Craftsman socket that worked perfectly. This "long" sensor is the correct part. The short style will not fit. My original sensor was broken where the black plastic meets the brass part. Problem solved, gauge works great!

Thank you for still making the original!!!

This works perfect! Original size and connector. I had no idea that Ford had change the sensor until I went to the parts store and the gave me a shorter one with a different connector. I was confused and frustrated. I am thankful this company still makes/sells the original part because I wasn't about to buy the pigtail connector conversion to connect to the new version of this sensor I bought. I was frustrated enough about this and at that time I would have probably sold my car and bought from a vehicle. Lol. All jokes asideGreat part, great value, perfect fit (on my 08 Milan I4) and works like it should.Thank you!

Seems to be working

Correction:The pigtail connector did NOT come with the part. That was one I got from a box from another supplier, which had the newer version of this part, which actually does not fit. It's very annoying that all of the parts interchangeability catalogs (including the interchangeability information in this listing and the information on Rock Auto) include different versions of this temp sensor that are NOT interchangeable. The photos in this listing include both types of sensors, which is misleading.I'm currently getting a P0128 code and the CHT reading is about 5-6 degrees C less than ambient air temp when the engine is cold. Replacing the thermostat didn't help. I'm hoping it's becuase I have the wrong pigtail connector. I will update when I know.Original review:The sensor seems to be working well (no more whacko fail-safe cooling mode without any DTCs other than misfire codes), but the pigtail connector is mirror image of what it is supposed to be - the "key" on the long edge of the sensor connector doesn't mate with the notch on the pigtail connector. The plastic is pliable enough that Ford was able to jam it in there anyway, and after a couple of drive cycles I can even get the locking tab to "click".I'm currently getting a P0128 code, but I'm pretty sure the thermostat is sticking open.

Good OEM replacement...

We needed to install a new sensor due to engine codes and check engine light. If your car is an older Ford Focus (ours was 2006), and it hasn't been changed to the shorter version then this is a perfect fit.Huge tip:Finding a deep socket wrench removal/installation for this can be a huge and expensive hassle. However, go to any hardware store that has an "extended spark plug wrench" and for a good price it will work perfectly. It will allow the sensor to be cleared and screwed in safely without problems or damage.

2007 Ford Focus 2.0

This coolant temp sender is the original oem one found in the 2.0 engine, 2.3, and 3.0. Mazda and Ford. It's located in between #2 and # 3 spark plug with a rubber boot cover. Had to purchase a Tekton brand 20mm deep socket 1/2 drive to have it clear the sensor ontop to remove this. Worked. Old one broke at the connection seems to be a common problem.

Don't listen to the auto parts stores

My 2008 Ford Escape has been having under-heating problems and the autopart stores ALL say that the original 464 is no longer available. Their "replacement" is a little, aluminum stubby one that doesn't read accurately because the escape is designed to have the sensor closer to the block. This is an exact replacement at about half the price of inferior ones.

works, changed out in 5 minutes

this was for a Ford Focus 2006, see video on youtube MediaCafe called "Ford Focus Engine Temp Sensor changed out in 5 minutes".
