Expensive, but best in class.
My company uses this as our conference room speaker phone setup for small conference rooms. It is great at filtering out background nose while managing the varying voice levels of participants and keeping them all loud & clear to those on the other end of the call. They are expensive and we have tried less expensive models and brands and keep coming back to this model.Set up is so easy you don't even need to use the manual. Fully recommended, and they last years and years. We have found that either people break a cable by running over it with a chair or other acts of God (like a flood) kills these things before they die on their own. Very quality, reliable, fully recommended.Do note that this is the "non expandable" model, which means if you have a huge conference room and people in the far ends can't be heard, you can't buy the optional add on microphones to extend across the table and plug in. This model does not support that expansion mic option.

Great unit, missing the optional cable
Most of the recent documentation I found about this unit indicated that the optional cable required to use this unit as a microphone and speaker for a computer (for instance, for video conferencing) was included. It wasn't. It was difficult to find, too- finally found it through a few sellers back here on Amazon (you're looking for the "Computer Calling Kit for Sound STATION2 with LCD & Voicestation 500", which is part number 2200-17240-002. If you see a calling kit that ends in part number 001, it's the wrong one. I'm not sure what cable you'd have to purchase to actually connect to a cell phone like it's designed to use that plug for, but nobody local had that, either.HOWEVER, other than that issue, the unit is FANTASTIC. I stood in the far corner of the room (out of the advertised radius) and spoke in a lowered voice, and the person at the other end said it sounded like I was holding a handset. Now, the room was empty and silent except for me, but still...I was impressed. The speaker is plenty loud, and the way the cables hook up is absolutely ideal. I couldn't find information about that ahead of time, and was expecting to have to run all the cables back and forth from the wall. Instead, I was pleased to find that a single cable runs from the giant transformer box plugged directly into the receptacle, to the unit. The telephone cable then runs from the phone plug in the wall, to another port on the transformer box. All the voice and power then run together over to the unit through the single cable. I do wish that the "Computer Calling Kit" cable could hook up at the transformer as well, but alas- I will have to run it all the way from the unit.I absolutely recommend this unit- the sound is fantastic, and the operation logical for the end users.

Great Product and Amazing Seller Support
The Polycom SoundStation 2 works great in our large conference room. The sound is extremely clear, it is user friendly and makes for ease during our meetings. We did have one of the cords break and I reached out to the seller to see how I can obtain another cord. The seller's customer support was nothing sort of excellent. Somone responded almost immediately, with great professionaism and they are sending us a new cord. I always appreiacte great customer service!!!

Good for Home Office
The only issue that I have is the microphone volume. I have received several complaints that my volume is low and difficult to hear me.I have contacted Polycom and asked them to address the issue, but the representative said that he heard me loud and clear. Subsequently, no resolutions were made. Unfortunately, the device does not have any adjustments on the microphone volume. The speaker is loud and clear and the hookup was easy.

Polycom SoundStation 2 is an excellent tool for our small office.
We recently purchased the Polycom SoundStation 2 after "borrowing" one from a neighboring office. The model we bought has the display where the "borrowed" model did not. We are totally happy with this purchase and expect to continue using it for our many conference calls with board members and partners across WA State. For ease of use and auditory clarity in this price range, the SoundStation 2 can't be beat.

Well priced! - Does everything it advertises and more.
This item arrived at my home office just in time...(thank you for reliable shipping!). - It did everything I expected...and more. - My client and I both were very impressed with the quality and performance of this product and I continue to find unexpected application for it's use talking with clients...and family in my home office. --- My client is probably going to get one of these for her home and home office use.I highly recommend this product for use in any small to moderate board room and business application. - Sound quality is full and robust; voice pick-up is excellent; and is a snap to hook up and use.

Product Died, and Seller Unhelpful
The product failed to work after the 30 day warranty, and the seller basically said "tough luck" (but not in such a nice way). I wouldn't buy from this seller.

Good for home office
Good for home office. Didn't work well on an analog line. Lots of crackling and static on the line. Works like a champ on cable modem/VoIP line. If you're hoping to get IP quality on an analog line, adjust your expectations. Don't hate the device; hate analog
