Organization Development and Change

Great text
This is a great Organizational Development textbook. Very well written and interesting. I like the mix of content, tables, applications and review of effectiveness studies for different interventions. My only complaint is that the book was updated in 2015 but many of the studies are from 2008/2009. That's a long time ago and by the time the authors update the book again, those studies will be ancient and totally irrelevant. Other than that, it's one of the best texts I've ever read and this is my third college degree.

Great Read
This is a very well written book. It's organized and easy to follow. It has a bit of beyond the reading you will need to do. But this was used in a Graduate level course and that's expected of you anyway. I wish I had actually bought this book vs. just renting. I'm bummed I'll have to send it back.

Print is small
I don't usually have to pull out my reading glasses. This book I do, the print is so very small. It is not very well written or organized and the points covered in each chapter are brought up again and again in subsequent chapters instead of going over each part of a 'method' in full in each chapter. Instructors don't make up their own questions. They get them from something called a test bank, which also grades the tests and assigns percentages. Several of the test bank questions are wrong. Meaning the instructors are not checking the questions prior to publication, the students have to do that and report back. Odd when you have that much of your work done for you and you make over $100.00 an hour and you still can't make sure you do the work correctly. AND these same instructors force students to buy the cengage program along with the book for an additional $200+ so that they get paid for the class, paid for sending you to buy the textbook and paid for making students buy the code and their work is done for them. Plus, you have to buy the multi-use because more than one instructor is doing this. AND on top of all that once your time limit is up, in order to see your work, or the student notes and study guides to use in other classes or life you'd have to buy a new code with a new time limet.Raise your hand if you think this really sucks?Soon the middle man will be cut out for a talking computer dog.An entire career work segment is making themselves obsolete to the future of technology and computers.

Extensive knowledge
I am using this book for my master's degree in organizational design and development. Cummings and Worley (2015) are very knowledgeable in this field. This.book has been extremely helpful for my current class.

Informative Yet Dry and Dense Like a Stale Biscuit
I rented this textbook for an undergrad level course and I'm glad I didn't buy it. It's a graduate level book. While it covers everything you can imagine about organizational development, it's like a stale biscuit - dry, dense, and somewhat undigestible. If you know little or nothing about the topic like I do, it can be difficult to follow. The writing style is very "scientific" and I find, not very approachable. I wish the professor had chosen a different text or textbooks.

Worth the Price
I wasn't sure it would be worth the price but it's a very well written book and has TONS of practical advice.
