Exactly what I needed. Easy swap for the existing trap. Now theres and air inlet the washing machine no longer empties the tep so theres no smell from the drain.

well-made product (as you would expect from McAlpine) and easy to fit.i was hopeful this would have stopped the loud gurgling noise from the sink after I fitted my new washing machine, but it didn't. A visit from a local plumber didn't help either - he said that it was just the noise the plumbing made...even though all the washing machines I have had before have never made such a racket when emptying! further online research leads me to believe that some modern washing machines pump out waste water at such a high rate that a standard sink trap struggles to cope and results in noisy gurgling.A standpipe connecting through the wall directly to external drainage (thus avoiding connecting to the sink trap) has been suggested as a solution, but that sounds like an expensive project for another day. I'll live with the noise until then.

I bought this to replace a standard sink trap because the washing machine was making stupid amounts of gurgling and all sorts of weird noises were coming from it.The trap arrived quickly, and was an easy replacement of the old one - basically unscrewing the old and screwing the new one back in to replace. I removed the nozzle section and just used the one the washing machine was already connected to.Although this hasn't stopped ALL of the weird and wonderful noises .. we no longer have to shut all the doors throughout the house to try and mitigate the noise from the washing machine. It still gurgles .. but at a much lower volume, and a lot less frequently. So all in all, money well spent ;-)

It worked, stopped the washing machine loud gurgling noise (just air noise as it start to happen). Note in the instructions "your sink must have a overflow pipe and linked in to the sink", most kichems sinks will have. The washing machine stem is moulded closed and cutting open if need in a dishwasher or washing machine first install. If replacing a old "sink u bend with mc in pipe" use the old pipe stem and keep this closed one in case of removing the appliance temporarly (gone away for repair) or permentley, so to stop sink water flooding out.

Dont forget to cut the end of the fir tree nozzle when fitting the washing machine drain hose or you might be embarrassed if you call out a plumber.

Drain still gurgles when washing machine drains.

Got this as my new washer was making my sink make loud gurgles/burping noises. Like another reviewer mentions, this set up doesn't work with new machines. Will maybe need to get a separate stand pipe fitted
