Q: Can this cable be used to split the signal from a headset microphone to an Xbox One controller and another audio input device like a game recorder?

This does work, but you need to buy another cable if the jack you are plugging into is also trrs. You need to get a trs 3.5 female to trs 3.5 male cable, basically an aux extender, this way your other device will not interfere with the voice transmission which would end up sounding like a high pitched popping and squelling noise without the trs cable extender. Make sure to get a trs cable extender and not a trrs extender.

I used it as a splitter. I inserted my live feed into the female port and the 2 males went to different devices (cell phones) to record my live feed sound. The cable has 3 bands which are left and right sound and the third band is for microphone (record) input

That is what I had hoped-for when I bought one, but it didn't work for me. I'm not electrical, but it must have something to do with "impedance" & that was mentioned in one of the reviews or write-ups I saw before buying. When I try to hear from both the phone & music, one of the two connections becomes very weak.
