Abe Lincoln Goes to Washington: 1837-1865 Paperback – Illustrated, October 14, 2008

Cheryl Harness has broken her children's biography of Abraham Lincoln into two volumes. The first volume covers the life of young Abe Lincoln from 1809 to 1836. "Abe Lincoln Goes to Washington" follows Abe Lincoln to Congress and ends with his assasination. This biography is targeted to a third grade audience. I thought the book was well written and illustrated. Ms. Harness has produced a first rate introductory biography. Job well done.

This is another of Cheryl's well-written and engaging histories. This one is well told and particularly timely considering all of the interest generated by movies and books about Abraham Lincoln. I also highly recommend her Young Abe Lincoln, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and Benjamin Franklin. Whenever one of her books is released, I plan to add those books to my history shelves, too.
